I put my daughter through a private Christian until high school.  She asked to go to public school with her friends and wanted the opportunity to be a cheerleader.  I had no problem allowing her to have a voice in her choices.

I do believe a solid background and growing up being taught to be Christ-like and how to forgive others has made her a descent human being; that doesn't steal, doesn't do drugs, doesn't have children out of wedlock.  She is 26 and some would say naïve to the real world.  She wore a promise ring and stayed a virgin until 19 and I then put her on birth control.  I have always felt like we have open lines of communication and I ask a lot of questions.  I also share with her my mistakes and pitfalls, even the shameful decisions and how it affected my life and made me feel.

I know religion is not perfect.  I know many of the stories are outlandish.  I also know the Bible was changed under different rulers to control the people.  But I also know that with all it's wrongs, it still may be the best thing going to teach children to be Christ-like.  To have faith that things will work out.  How to serve others.  The joy of giving.  And how to love others rather than fear them.  She is very cultural with her best friend being Hindi and even attending a 4 days wedding for her.

The alternative could be I had a hellish child on drugs, raising grandbabies by different daddy's, stealing, not respecting elders and authority, or committing suicide.
