If we lived in a nation where Christian dogma didn't infect our body politic, then Kevorkian would be recognized as a great humanitarian. Instead, millions of Americans will needlessly suffer because the delusional have a hard time doing what their prophet told them to do, and keep their fucking mouths shut.

agreed.  We would put a suffering animal down because it is the humane, compassionate and loving thing to do.  Here is a quote I love:

"Just look at us. Everything is backwards. Everything is upside-down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information, and religions destroy spirituality." --Michael Ellner

Yes, some doctors destroy health, and some lawyers destroy justice, and there are some incidences in universities where the pursuit of a full understanding of a subject is thwarted, and the major media destroys some information, and some religious groups have lost their connection with and ability to help individuals connect with the spiritual. But, such global, black and white thinking that this quote expresses is really a call for the person reading or hearing it to become a mindless follower of some sham, and not think critically about things. Just a way to get people to react in fear to various conspiracy theories.

I don't have speakers on my work computer but will listen to your link at home.

you must be stuck at work and bored like me.  It is beautiful outside, you should go fishing, or do some role-playing, have a drink by the pool.  Thanks for the book recommendations.  Have a great summer.  Madison

Mine was the incredulous face!

no other reason than to dispute it. Just as you're doing now.

If I've learned anything in nearly 55 years, it's that few things are black and white. A few things are, of course, but few and far between. From your response, I see (in b/w) that you're offended when others don't see that grey touches more areas than not.

Let it go, Matt. The quote, Madison and your anger; it just isn't worth it. This is only a forum after all; not life and death.

I posted that two days ago! Why would you think that I haven't "let it go?" Have I made ongoing posts on this matter? Though it was a very passive aggressive way of taking my confrontation of her statement, and making me to be the problem, did I continue an argument with her?

And, I said I was incredulous, not angry. So, if somehow you feel you know better as regards to how I feel, you are making yourself the final arbiter of what my emotional states are? I've seen that played out in relationships, where one person become the expert on what the other person is feeling, despite him or her saying otherwise, and the results are not a pretty sight.

I read your post. Didn't agree with it, but read it.

Your rant was written in such a way that anything I said, hell anything ANYONE said, would be jumped on or misconstrued in a passionately angry manner. (Which you have kindly obliged in your subject title.) As such, I wanted to avoid it and you.

Since you want the last word, I'll graciously let you have it. Good night, Matt.

My big regret is that the Right to Die movement did not have a better spokeman who was not a showman and who could articulate the issue in a manner more likely to spur intellegent debate.

This is a complex issue.  I have had relatives who lasted too long and those who went out with dignity although they could have lasted longer had they opted for heroic measures which they did not desire.

Needless to say, the slippery slope does create problems, but I hope when I am getting too infirm that no measures are taken and I can be helped along.

and he won't even have to wait to be terminal for me to do it. In fact the only reason I might NOT pull the plug is if I new he was facing a long and painful death through natural causes. lol
