Here's a sop to some of the conservative board manginas whose delicate sensibilities I offended
with my jibes against their idols, Michele Bachmann & Joe McCarthy. While they readjust their Tampaxes, they may get a kick out of the link below.-------:)

As I said earlier, I think it will be a close POTUS election.

The future is always hard to predict, and the further out, the harder it is.  There are too many unknowns in every direction, and I could see a landslide for the GOP if...., a landlslide for the Dems if......, and a real close one if......

I will say that two years ago there were hundreds of posts about the Demise of the GOP and how a shifing demographic would increasingly send the party into oblivion.  Then "if" happened.

The biggest "if" for me is whether Obama can appeal to the center, which I do not think he can, since that would be abandoning his views, even if he doesn't push as hard for them as some people want.  His "likability" is still high, so if he could moderate his views, he could gain traction.

The second biggest "if" would be disasters.  If there is a major terrorist success, he would look weak, denying a "war" on terrorism, etc. If they get lucky (or smart), it could go poorly for him.

DLCers like Rahm Emmanuel kept pushing Obama to the right as soon as he was elected, and as a result the Dems have kissed a once in a generation opportunity goodbye.

But leave it to Democrats to never fail to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
