That Newsweek article notes that White men are UNDER REPRESENTED as mass shooters (counting men only.. all mass shooters are men).
But wait! says Big, it says they are the Majority! Hah!... well, gee, white men overall are the majority (of men)
White men currently are over 65% of men, and thru 1984, the period used, the average would be higher, let's call it 75%. So, for a group that is 75% of the male population, only 54% of mass shootings? Under Represented. Whites commit fewer mass shootings than you would expect based on their share of the population.
Meanwhile the same article notes blacks "only" responsible for a mere 16%. But blacks are only 13% of the population, a stable number from the 80's til now.
Blacks are OVER REPRESENTED as mass shooters. But, they are less over represented for mass shootings than for shootings overall, where they are massively over represented.
But, do you really want to go tit-for-tat in regards to who, on the left or the right, can say the dumbest things?

Show me your examples of Right wing people working for Main stream media in positions of authority, foaming at the mouth with hateful rhetoric like the CBS executive, Hayley Geftman-Gold, a vice president in the strategic transactions department at CBS, when she wrote she was not sympathetic to the victims of the shooting in Las Vegas because country music fans are often Republicans and own guns.
No doubt in my mind Main stream media is a consistent partisan supporter of left wing politicians.
When I say Main Stream media I am speaking of supposedly trustworthy public news channels such as CBS, NBC, ABC, not sources most of us realize are extremely biased with their opinions like Hannity, Huff & Puff, CNN or the NRA.
What constitutes mainstream media. Volume of viewership? Method of journalism? Degree of adherence to the profession's ethical standards? Or, just by making a pronouncement; much like when someone has been reduced to name calling?
Main Stream is Free like every Main Street I've driven on in America.

In the back wood hills and many unfortunate city citizens everyone doesn't have the luxury of pay for cable TV.
In other words if they're a free TV channel I consider those channels as Main Stream.
ABC, CBS, NBC are the three largest that come to mind.
That's just my opinion, I'm sure uncountable thousands would call Fox or CNN main stream
One of my Lefty friends here might believe Raw Story or Onion is Main Stream.

40,000 deaths from vehicular crashes in 2016.
Close to 11000 of those deaths were due to drunk drivers.
Is it the keys or the person causing the death ?
Drunk driving laws are more severe than twenty years ago yet drunks continue to drive drunk and kill.
The terrorist in Las Vegas responsible for killing dozens of innocent people made trip after trip to his room with suitcases full of weapons.
No metal detectors looking for weapons when walking through Mandalay Bay doors yet all casinos in Vegas monitor every gambler there to ensure they aren't counting cards or cheating the casino out of five dollars.
I believe many murders could be avoided with strategically located metal detectors silently searching for hidden weapons.
I do not believe tougher gun laws reduce the amount of murders unless you count suicide as murder.
I believe someone committed to suicide will find a way to cease to exist whether they have a gun or not.
When the anti gun crowd starts howling for more gun control untold tens of thousands buy more guns.
When children don't learn the difference between right and wrong in a civilized society more often they tend to show uncivilized tendencies during their adult years .
