robbing the planet of every resource.. and starting numerous wars over these resources..

Not that I'm a fan of socialism or communism either... they have the same flaws..

Humanity needs to become indigenous again

if yes, then i suggest those of you not liking capitalism, depart for a socialist/communist country and leave those of us who have the opposite view alone in the good 'ol USA.  bye, bye boys!

Why couldn't the opposite be true, and all you capitalists leave for some other capitalism-loving country?  Not sure where that would be, as most modern industrialized nations have put in enough regulation to prevent blatent profit-adoring capitalism from creating the 1%-99% divide which we so clearly have here.  But thanks for not invoking the mindless 'unpatriotic' charges of some others.  I don't know when opposing the egregious excesses of capitalism in favor of taking care of the people & the environment became unpatriotic, I must have missed that news break!!

Don't you want to make an announcement informing us that you read us for a laugh instead?  We have 1-99% divide?  Slogans, Solgans, Slogans

Willy Wonka quote.

You've mentioned before how much you make annually. While I know you have a comfortable income, you're not making anything close to what Jamie Dimon is making.

Does that mean that Dimon is a better human being than you are?

If we live in a society where wealth is concentrated at the top, as is the case in the United States (we have the kind of income inequality on par with a third world nation in Africa), then what does that mean for the rest of society? What does that mean for the nation's economy as a whole? If capital is moving in one direction: into the hands of the already fabulously wealthy, and not cycling back into the economy, then how can we have sustained economic growth?

Would you rather be a rich man in a poor country, or would you rather be a slightly less rich man in a rich country? Why do rich people in poor countries move here, when their wealth in the USA will only buy them a middle class or upper middle class life style?

Do not equate money with a person's value. Just because someone has more money does not mean they are a "better person". The greatest people to walk the face of this earth never seemed to be extremely wealthy.

I know you and I would disagree, but the fact is I do believe in trickle down economics. The wealthy only make more money if they can sell goods to a middle class who can afford to buy them. This is a point you have made yourself.

However, this is where Americans do not like this. The wealthy have realized this is a global economy. They can minimize cost by moving production overseas and avoiding unions who want to picket because the mood strikes them. This also means more money in their pockets. I think you have a liited view and only think of the U.S. You are right that the middle class is shrinking here, but it is growing on these other places and the goods produced can be produced over there. The wealthy still make money, but are conducting it where the profit margins are best.

Bad news if you are a blue collar union employee, HELL YES, but its time to realize we compete in a global economy. You will have to find a way to compete with foreign labor or upgrade your skills to a point where you are no longer affected by this.

So to answer your question, if I were a rich, I would live whereever I wanted to, because I am rich ;-)

You're civil and you state your position clearly.

You're quite right that I'm very US-oriented in my thinking when it comes to economics. I don't talk much about things outside our borders, unless it's foreign policy.

What bothers me most of all about the wealthy moving business oversees is that it's unpatriotic. If this country allowed you to become rich, you should have enough sense of patriotism and loyalty to stay here.

I mean, morally speaking, what is the difference between a business man moving things to China and a US soldier turning sides and going off to fight for al Qaeda? Aren't both acting as traitors?

As it stands now, the only way for American workers to compete with Chinese workers is if American workers get paid 5 cents an hour.

This is why I think the federal government needs to step in here. If American workers aren't good enough to make your products, then you shouldn't be allowed to sell your products to American consumers.

There are progressives who disagre with me. I know many who favor free trade, because it means that economically speaking, US consumers are giving financial aid to Chinese workers, and other workers in the 3rd world. The line of thinking is that Americans are too rich, and should be more poor, so that these poor workers in third world countries can have a better standard of living.

I don't accept that. I believe that America should be for Americans. All of us should be patriots first. There's nothing wrong with helping the poor in other countries, but we shouldn't go broke doing it.

and I suppose it is a cargo ship bringing in goods from China.

Seriously, the genie is out of the bottle and international trade is not going anywhere. The biggest problem you have with what you want Willy is the American people don't want it. Yeah, everybody bitches about foreign goods and the Wal-Mart, but then why is the parking lot always so damn full?

Everyone knows that shutting off trade would shoot consumer prices sky high. Tell somebody that their iPhone is now produces in the U.S., but oh, by the way, instead of $400 dollars, its now $1200 dollars.
NEITHER PARTY will let that happen on their watch. The political toll would be too great.

And run of out of bailout funds. Subsidies. Pay to fail. Tax cuts. Excuses.

And, I don't take anything you have to say, seriously!!!  ;)

Nothing much has changed! Those who came out against slavery were called socialists.

Is you run out of middle class people to steal from!
