If I choose to insult you, it won't be weak.  That said, I have a better response: New York City.  Even larger than Chicago; just re-elected an Uber-Liberal Mayor; sanctuary city; extremely stringent gun control.....BUT.....
lowest murder and crime rate in decades.  So 'splain that to us....

have given rise to decreased crime rates here. Along with smart policing such as focusing LE at "hot spots". Real estate development have been squeezing in high crime nieghborhoods in all the bouroghs. I hear the Bronx is the next target for development. Cameras and access control are standard for all new developments which helps as well.  

I still would refrain from taking a stroll at night in the South Bronx or East New York at night.
