Forget about who you "want" to win the election, but who do you "think" is going to win?
I think anyone who gets all their news from CNN or the other liberal news outlets would believe that Roy Moore doesn't stand a chance. I further believe that most "Blue Stater's" also believe that Roy Moore is "going down" to borrow a phrase from one of this board worst prognosticators. But I think anyone who has actually spent any time in Alabama knows that just like with Trump, what people say in public or to the pollsters can be very different from what they do when alone in the voting booth.I predict that not only is Roy Moore going to win, but that he is going to win rather handily, not by 20 percentage points like he would have before the sexual allegations, but still by a comfortable margin. Are any of you libs up for a small wager?
BTW, I personally find Roy Moore to be reprehensible and I have felt that way long before most of you had ever heard of him, but my personal feelings aside, I bet you he's going to win.
Having lived in Southern Alabama (Pensacola, FL), I had no doubt that Moore would win. However, with the new write-in candidate, Lee Busby, I have no idea how that will affect Moore or Jones. It could be a wash, in that it will affect both equally.
I don't believe the current polls putting Jones ahead. Too many people lie in these polls, embarrassed to say they'll vote for Moore.
And it's been a while since anyone new has come forward to accuse him, which lets his supporters brush the whole thing off.

By the time Moore is due to be sworn in, Sessions has gotten on Trump's bad side again and whispers in McConnell's ear that if Moore is removed he'll accept Gov. Ivey tapping him to replace Moore. That solves everyone's problems and the Republicans can look like they are once again anti-pedophile.

You must be drinking because your scenario sounds quite plausible to me. I can really see this, or something very similar happening. Outside of Alabama I don't think anybody wants to see Moore in the US Senate, not even his fellow Republicans, but they don't want a Democrat to win either. As you said "this solves everyone's problems"
BTW, I would like to point out that most Republicans do NOT support Roy Moore, Trump not included of course. Trump of course "could" get an attack of conscience "after the fact" when the seat has gone Republican, and get behind this too, especially considering Moore wasn't his man to begin with.

But even if he wins, the GOP will likely censure him and relegate him to a glorified janitorial position. Jones would be the better choice, because he leans toward the conservative side of things and is somebody the GOP could negotiate with and create a bridge across the aisle.
But yeah, the GOP Senate will likely get a proven pedophile in its ranks. Fortunately Moore is an unhealthy old fart and may very well expire on the trip to DC.

Furthermore, the polls might have it close, but the bookies have Moore as a 4-9 favorite. I don't really see this race as being "too close to call" If I got all my news from liberal sources I might see it that way, but I've spent some time in Alabama, and I don't see any way a democrat gets elected, even if he's running against an "accused" pedophile. In the immortal words of Eddie Edwards, I think he would have to be caught with either a "dead girl or a live boy" for him to lose this election.

A 32 year old man trolling for 14 - 16 year old girls at the mall or hanging around outside high schools is a pedophile regardless of what the law says. Incidentally, Alabama, age of consent laws were enacted at a time when they desperately needed population increases and life expectancy was about 45 years. They are antiquated and are not in line with modern mores and values.
So yes, to the vast majority of the rest of the country, it’s proven Moore is a pedophile. Not all oroof happens at a court trial. People are allowed to make up their own minds and clearly have.

Only one of Moore's accusers is accusing him of anything that would be considered a crime and that woman is Leigh Corfman. Personally I don't find her 40 year old accusation all that credible although I am willing to believe the worst about Roy Moore as I personally can't stand the man.
Most of the allegations against Moore are for being "creepy" and for trying to "date" women in their late teens at the "ripe old age" of thirty or so. News flash guys, I am still seeing women just over 18 and I don't find it creepy at all. I am not hanging out at high schools to do it since we have this new thing called the internet, but I routinely sleep with women almost forty years younger than me, and so do many of the guys here on TER. Keep in mind that Roy Moore ended up marrying one of these "young girls" and has stayed with her for several decades.

I was dating an 18 year old when I was 48, her and I are still friends, so I guess you can call me "creepy" too if you like, but it doesn't make me a pedophile and except for the one accuser, nothing else I have heard makes me believe that Roy Moore is a pedophile by anything but the very loosest use of the term, a use so loose I imagine it would apply to me as well as I am almost certain that at some point in my life I have been with some one under 18 when I was well over 21.
Hate Roy Moore for all the very valid reasons he deserves your contempt, but him being a pedophile is still very much in doubt. If he really were a pedophile and chasing 14 year olds, wouldn't you think that at least one of his accusers would be accusing him of actually having sex with them?
What is really so surprising about this? Look at how many times Ted Fucking Kennedy was reelected despite being an even bigger POS in his personal life than Roy Moore could ever be. There are some places where even a murderer can be elected if he's a Dem and other places where even an accused sex offender can be elected if he's a Rep.

After Alabama lost to Auburn, looks to me it's their year for upsets.
I don't want anyone with Judge in front of their name to be writing laws.
I believe one of the main reasons the economy has been improving year after year is directly due to the to the drop of attorneys in Government. Less attorneys = Less corruption and Incompetence.
Think about it, most attorneys knowledge is restricted to their specialized field, nothing more.
More attorneys are duped by strippers and hookers than any other group of citizens.

Except for one brief period of time the other day when the odds sharply reversed Moore was the odds on favorite and I NEVER give odds that long on a "real bet".
It was weird, Moore was a 1-6 favorite for weeks and then it's like the bookies knew something was up or a bunch of "smart money" came in on Jones as the line flip flopped making Jones about a 1-2 favorite, only to flip flop again a few hours later back to Moore becoming the favorite by the same odds of about 1-2.
The problem with these kind of bets is that there isn't enough action on them and the spreads are too wide to even try to "arbitrage" the bets. Your timing would have had to have been perfect to catch Jones at 7/2 and then turn around and middle the bet with Moore at 2-1 as he was only that long for the briefest of time.
As for my feelings about who won, if there was ever a choice between a shit sandwich and a giant douche, this was it. Sir Charles was right, the entire country is now absolutely convinced that Alabamans are idiots. I would have voted for you well before either of the two choices offered to the Alabaman voters. Great job Alabama.
