Hi,

Just  quick question, how long does summer heat last here? Its just too hot do almost anything but swimming here outside.

Christine

You can expect temps around 100 degrees well into September most years. However, it will become a lot more tolerable in about three to four weeks because the humidity will come back down. (Although, the humidity probably doesn't bother you, given your background.)

I seem to recall a few times having temps over 100 into October, but that is certainly not typical. Last year we hit 100 on October 27, which I believe was a record for latest 100 degree day.

Also, I'm not sure how long you've been here, but we had a relatively mild spring this year. In other words, it got hot later than normal this year. For whatever that's worth.

Welcome to the valley of the sun!! My advice is to get yourself acclimated to it. Drink lots of water and protect yourself from the sun with hats, shade, sunscreen; but try to not spend every minute in the air conditioning. If you spend some time in the heat, you'll eventually start to get used to it. Don't push it!! And listen to your body. Lots of people, even people in great health, succumb to heat related illness around here because they tried to do too much. Usually they got themselves too far away from a water source for too long.

You can love it here! We have awesome winters.

if we're lucky we'll start seeing cooler nights by mid Aug, and a break in the heat by mid Oct.

I am used to it being hot, and used to it being humid. But I think the sun is more intense here, Often no clouds. I also think that it was very dry early in the summer. That took a lot to get used to, just the dry air itself.

Thank you I look forward to October, lol.
