FB Links in Posts?

I'm noticing a new trend in Phoenix provider posts (at least on BP). Girls are embedding links to Facebook, supposedly as a means to get more info or pics. I checked a couple other cities and have not seen this elsewhere. Anyone understand why this is emerging? Is it just a new agency, or maybe a new scam?

I find it curious...

I have noticed the same thing very odd

A lot of them just have a generic link to FB - no personal page even. I tried one that had a personal FB page in the address and it was discontinued. Regardless, I am not going to log in to FB to see a provider's page.

I'm also seeing instagram links, again with no personal page. I don't understand what they are trying to link to. If it's just a generic login page for a social media site, what's the point? Or is it that they just aren't checking to see where their links go?

The website builder I use has the social media buttons built into their templates.  It is up to me to change to point to my profile or to delete them.

With all of the "crackdown" going on in our industry, I wonder if Phoenix is being used as a test market, back page was started there right?, to find out how many people actually click on the social media sites.  It is likely a form of revenue sharing.

I have also  found that there are an enormous amount of providers, especially in Wichita, KS, who have no idea how to utilize social media.  Most of them do not have websites & still use the aggravating emoji's in their title.  So my thoughts are some providers are too ignorant to pay close attention to their ads.

Its most likely due to the fact bp has a new rule when placing an ad that you have to link some type of social media. Never used to be that way.

On every site i post on gives me the opportunity to link my social media but BP is the only place I've seen it recently where it's a MUST to add your social media to post the ad. I was at first thinking it was just for the "dating" area but I went and took a look around and it's in every area like let's say childcare. Makes sense for areas like that, to see the companys website and get more info but for the dating area I think has gone too far. My thinking is they want to make sure people are legitimate and the actual person who is posting the ad.

I'm not sure if this is the case with every girl's BP account because I've seen some cities where some girls don't have any social media links, but personally, I can't post an ad and leave the social media section blank. It's required if I want to post my ad... I have a twitter account, so I just put that there BUT if I didn't have a social media account, I could put the generic facebook or twitter link and BP would allow it. Maybe they're doing it because it's the "dating" section? Not sure why they're doing it but the reason why girls are putting the generic links and bland profiles it probably because their BP accounts are requiring them to.

My old email / BP account (you cannot change the email connected to the account sadly, so when I got a new email I had to make an entirely new account to get the responses and links to my new email) never required for me to put a social media link but when I made a new BP account, it started making me put a social media link in order to post!

That's what I was thinking. probably just throwing any old account up in order to place the ad. I don't think its a scam.
