Here's a new one....
... when you made your post, you accidentally checked the "email message me on response" box on the message posting form. I never use it, and it appears you never do either... until now. 
I just got an email from TER announcing that someone responded to a post of mine. Not a PM, mind you, but a regular post on one of these discussion boards.
