I contacted a provider on CL. She put me on hold twice for approx 3 mins. We disconnected each time then she called me back again. Again putting me on hold. Asked my name and then asked if I was in any way affiliated with LE. I said no of course. After an hour I was enroute to meet her. She then called me just before I reached her and asked to bring her a "Sprite". Seemed a bit odd that a provider would call and ask for something specific. She was working out of a hotel. After that I recalled a sting on dateline where LE asked for something specific. Once you show up the arrest you. Suppose a way to nab thier man. I did NOT go. Was I being too paranoid or was this a good thing to have done.
Going with your gut is a wise decision and will serve you well. In the future friend, I'd AVOID CL like the fuckin' plague! CL has more busts than all the other escort malls combined. LE focuses on CL more than any site. Also lots of Bait/Switch, and ripoffs on CL!

Lets look at the alternatives:
1. She wanted a Sprite and was using you for a delivery boy. First of all, that was a bit rude of her. Worst case, you walked off from a provider.
2. It was LE and the Sprite in your hand was Pima Facie evidence that you were the guy that the lady cop had been talking to on the cell phone. You avoided a set of handcuffs and a huge headache.
This isn't a hard decision for me.

A lot of seasoned providers would black list you for standing them up without giving them an explanation. You didn't say, but I'm assuming you had no intel on her going in.
If you're on your way to see a provider not knowing whether or not she is LE, you've already screwed up. Hobbying 101.

Yes, this was odd. As mentioned earlier in this thread she could have gone to the vending machine on her floor and bought one there. Your concern about LE is totally legit, for the fact that CL is full of LE and because of the story you recalled above.
Also, I would recommend staying away from CL. I have only seen a few CL girls, but the difference in quality between well-reviewed providers and the girls of CL is drasticly different. Reputable providers earn their good reviews by taking care of their clients; the best providers get the most pleasure out of giving their clients a thrilling experience (emotionally and physically). On the other hand, CL girls are at the bottom rung of the hobby. Now, I don't mean to say that all CL girls are bad, but you certainly want to be careful so you don't end up TOFTT or worse.
You got paranoid and did a NCNS because the provider asked for a can of sprite? I don't think LE could use your possession of a soft drink as evidence of intent to commit a crime.
If you are that paranoid you should not use CL to find providers.

as a hobbyist can get, but being asked to bring a soft drink would have been ok with me. I do use CL and have had encounters with LE
while visiting CL providers. But no tasty beverages were involved.

LE would have been more organized then to put you on hold so many times and then at the last minute ask you to bring some thing. But I do think at the very lest the girl was unorganized and unprofessional. So you never know what could have happened to a simple bad time to a night mere of a situation. You did the what any provider would have done if a client acted this way. Stay safe have fun….

I hear that an NCNS can cause you to be put on some sort of list for other providers to avoid you.
About the black list, CL providers probably don't have the same kind of communication network that reputable TER providers do, so it is likely you won't be blacklisted by all CL providers for a NCNS.
Now, I could be wrong, and there might be a good number of CL girls who do have a network and do share with each other info about which hobbyists are bad; however, in my experience, CL girls don't ask anything about me: no name, no references.
The most screening I've ever undergone with a CL girl was her unzipping my pants and grabbing my johnson (presumably to make sure I was not a cop). The only info she had about me was my phone number and a description of what I look like. While that may be enough info to share with other providers about their experiences, I don't see it working very well for the CL girls preventing bad clients from showing up and hurting them (or not showing up at all and wasting their time).

Were you being overly cautious? Probably but who knows? None of us were there but you were. You had to make a decision with your gut-something that is very common if you are going to use CL to look for female companionship. You did what felt right and no one should fault you for that.
As far as the can of sprite goes. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that, if it was a sting, LE could use that can as proof that you contacted the lady for sex on the phone prior to arriving at her in call. It's not as silly as it sounds.
I've never had a lady other than my ATF's call me and ask me to bring something with me. I have to say I would be wary of any woman I didn't know well asking me to bring anything.
