So, apparently the classic site is shut down officially?

I'm cruising around the classic site and when I hit reply to a post, and when I hit new thread for this, I get redirected to the "new" site. (I know it's just the regular site now.) I don't know a whole lot about the tech stuff of the internet, just know I keep getting swept into the new site.
.

Is this the beginning of the end of classic? I thought we would have longer.

You can still read the boards via Classic, but the moment you respond it automatically switches over to the new format.  TER gave folks what they felt was a long enough time to transition over and get used to the new site and I'm guessing it won't be long now until the classic site option at the bottom is removed.

And that sucks big time! I just tried to reply to your post in classic and it automatically switched me to the new format. The old "classic" TER stayed active and fully functional for years, side by side with "new TER" or "regular TER."  (What we are now referring to as "classic"). I thought they would do the same thing with this version, but looks like they are pulling the plug early, by changing it into a "read only" for now and probably totally eliminating it soon. Let's hope that is not true and this is just a glitch.

it still sucks, though I do like a couple of new features such as being able to read all the posts in a thread in the tree mode without closing and opening each one.  I also like that when it opens in flat mode, you get a run down on recent posts to all threads so you can check those out quickly without a lot of hunting.

But like anything else (like airline seats with only 29" of pitch), we'll get used to it.

Like Didi says in Waiting for Godot:  "I get used to the muck as I go along."

Such is life today...ain't it the truth?

“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense." - Winston Churchill

If you can wait long enough, TER will eventually switch to "real" open source, consortium maintained forum software. Of course, by then, we will have won the battle but lost the war.

I think airlines should go back to the good old days of bench seating.

Or I should say I was viewing it until I clicked REPLY.... But now back to the classic site.

Well, that's weird. Between this thread and one over on GD, a lot of people are saying that when browsing in classic they get thrown over into the new site when they click on post reply. And that just happened to me in replying to you. How did you do that?

I went to the Classic site to view and reply to your post. Upon clicking on Reply, I was taken to the new site. Clicking on Classic site from the Reply form kicked me back to the home menu on the Classic site.

Yup that's exactly what's been happening to me since yesterday. I'd like to know how as well.
