I just found out that in RI prostitution is techniquely legal as long as it happens indoor... Does this mean we dont have to worry about getting busted by LE when contacting a provider? anyone has an idea?

Yes, it's an annual thing for outraged politicians to propose to change the law.

While it is technically legal, indoors, one still must be discrete.  No hotel can stand up to public pressure even if they like the extra days of rental.

Lots of girls on Craig's List...  every co-ed with a camera phone...  but extra ordinary number of rip-offs & scams.
Ladies have web sites & TER reviews...

actually in RI it is NOT I repeat NOT legal.
But, RI has a Privacy act in its state constitution. It basically means that even if presumed privacy by one member of a transaction is under the impression that it is "private" then their rights are protected.  You can still be arrested, put in cuffs dragged off to jail, have to bail yourself out, explain it to your family friends and boss when they read your name in the paper, go to court hire an attorney, pay court fees for the case to Most likely be dropped, because you assumed it was a private act and the arrest violated your rights. So discretion is always key here.
Too many woman who work in RI too freely put themselves out there, and are careless under the assumption they are above the law. Just be careful.

I was at a few and they were half decent although FS is rare.

I haven't heard of any busts of these places either unlike Conn and Mass where they keep getting closed down, so you might want to explore that option.

Bill to close prostitution loophole

Thursday, March 13, 2008

Journal State House Bureau

PROVIDENCE — With the nation’s eyes trained on former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s alleged involvement with a prostitute, Rhode Island lawmakers are considering a bill that would close the loophole in this state’s laws that makes prostitution legal if it occurs indoors.

The proposed legislation has become something of a perennial bill in recent years, but has never been passed by the General Assembly. This year’s version came before the House Judiciary Committee again last night, where its sponsor, Joanne M. Giannini, D-Providence, argued that extending the state’s misdemeanor prostitution statute to cover indoor activity would make it easier for the police to crack down on suspected brothels.

“A lot of people don’t realize that prostitution is legal in Rhode Island if you do it indoors,” State Police Inspector Stephen Bannon testified. In an accompanying letter, State Police Supt. Col. Brendan P. Doherty noted that under current law, “persons are free to solicit sex for money in newspapers and/or over the Internet as long as the conduct that is agreed upon takes place in private.”

But opponents, including the Rhode Island Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, say the bill would unfairly target the women who are forced into prostitution.

The Judiciary Committee took no action last night, though House Majority Leader Gordon D. Fox, D-Providence, said in a statement that the House plans this session “to look very carefully at closing this loophole once and for all.”

This loophole is not authorized under the statute but a product of wording of the statute & court interpretation of it.  LE is well aware of the rulings, are careful to make cases that will stick & not risk court sanctions for violations.
