Don't give up sweetie. Try a agency first that is what I am doing as a newbie provider. Several TER members suggested it to me.

Like bj2008 who posted yesterday, I think I may soon be very frustrated. As a newbie I have two problems: I don't have references because I've never used an escort before. And I don't have a job because I'm retired. (I'm an older guy, 60+, not LE, not violent, and not poor; I am clean and well-mannered.) How can I get started??? Two possibilities suggested to bj2008, Date-Check and Preferred411, both require references and/or a job. Would it help to try an escort who advertises on CL but also has okay (if not great) TER reviews?
I would suggest trying an agency before I would roll the dice with CL.
Cheer up and just keep trying, it does get easier. If you contact a number of well reviewed ladies in your area, you will find someone that wil be willing to creativly screen you, then see you.

email to the provider(s) of your choice outlining your situation just as you have done here.
I'm willing to bet that someone will be motivated enough to let you see them and from then on you will have a reference that is tantamount to having your hand stamped.
Joining a verification service is not a bad idea also.
Until you have developed some sea legs, I would stay away from Craig's List.
I have a client who is retired and he gave me his full home address, home telephone number and I looked him up and it all matched. We also spoke on the phone for a while and I got a good feeling about him. We initially met at a coffee shop and his driver's license matched. He's been a good client ever since. If you're persistent you'll find one person who will be willing to work with you.

Just had a delightful experience in Portland - called a lady at the last minute and the only screening was the telephone call. We talked for a bit and were comfortable with each other on the phone and 45 minutes later she was at my hotel door and was spectacular.

I was in your shoes about a year ago. It took a bit of perseverance, but I was able to find a couple of well reviewed TER ladies who were willing to see me without references.
You might try a couple of the ladies who cycle in from out of town, and advertise on the regional boards.........worked for me anyway.

I would avoid CL if possible - I researched on there for awhile ( before finding TER) and just about stumbled into a LE operation. How would you like to walk into a sting the first time? I think not!!!!! I found well reviewed TER women in my area that I thought would click with me then called and explained my situation [ as you explained in your question ] and found several that would see me after our talk. This worked out to be SAFE and no problem. Good Luck!
