I prefer to do my own employment verification on new clients. Get the gentleman's full name and the name of his employer. Use the Internet or the Yellow Pages to get a phone number for that company. Call the company and ask for the gentleman by name. Once you are connected, verify that he is indeed the person who contacted you.

In addition to an employment verification, I require that a gentleman be a member of preferred411.com or that he has two recent references from well-known providers.
