How long do you wait?regular_smile

Another newbie here with a question. How long should you wait when you contact a provider by email for a response? I emailed my first provider and patiently waited about 24 hours before I got an email response. I now have emailed a second provider on Tuesday and still no response by today (Friday). I looked at her calendar and she was off Tue/Wed. I left her my references and things but just wondered what is normal. Trying to set something up for later this month. Should I email her again? Any kind responses would be much apreciated!!

I recently have been having major problems with my hotmail account. Gentlemen were sending emails that I never received...I even checked my junk folder and their just not there! I have since set-up another email account.

So, there could be one of many reasons for no response.

1. She is having problems with email
2. Family illness
3. Her computer broke (mine did just the other day and I had to buy another one)
4. Or she could be really bad at sitting on emails without responding.

Just pick up the phone, introduce yourself and ask her if she received your email.

First, check your junk folder and make sure she hasn't already sent a response. Next, re-read her site and the email you sent her. Make sure you followed all of her instructions when contacting her. Then I would contact her again.

If she has a public phone number, then I think your best bet would be to follow Paris's advice and call her. But if e-mail is the only way to contact her, a polite follow-up email would be fine, too.

I went back and checked her website and no number is given. Email is the only way to contact. I also checked my junk mail with nothing there (both you girls thoughts are so greatly appreciated!!). I did go ahead and send a second brief message asking her to give me some heads up that she got the 1st message. I didn't know since my proposed appointment was late in this month might be the reason for no reply yet?? She just got a new review so I know that sickness must not be the reason. She is very well reviewd with 9's & 10's and all reviews talk of quick replies to emails. Thanks again!

Check the providers website to find out how long she takes to reply to messages. Try calling her if she has posted a phone number. If none of that works, move on.

Most of the better email programs (MS Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc) give you the option to request a delivery and/or read receipt when you send a message.  This at least will give you some indication if your message has been received, or simply ignored.

some software also allows the recipient to choose whether or not to send the "read receipt"...

So if you get the receipt back, you know it was read, but if not, your email may or may not have been read.

Also I tested this once, sending an email to my own yahoo mail account with read receipt.  I read the email, but never got the receipt.  Not sure if other online email services (hotmail, gmail, etc.) will or will not send a receipt.

Some providers don't like to see newbies. If she didn't reply, it's time to try another provider. That's what TER is all about, choice.

Worse case, she eventually responds and you have made contact with another. Then you'll have to make a choice. That's OK!
