On one of the regional boards, the question came up, "What if the condom breaks and the provider gets pregnant?"
This surprised me in a way, although perhaps it shouldn't have. Ladies, are the condoms the only form of birth control you use? Or are they more just for prevention of STDs and you use the pill or something as well?
I'm not asking in reference to any incident, just out of general curiosity about practices. I know that it is both academic and moot in my case.

In the unlikely event that both the condom breaks AND she is not using a secondary method of birth control then there is alway the "morning after" pill(s).
But in the hobby as in the civvie world, it takes two to tango and if you make a baby, it is your too. And with that comes all the rights and responsibilities as well as the priveledges of fatherhood. Whats that? Did you just hear the sound of thousands of simultaneously failing erections....thought so.

I figured most ladies would use more than one method. The post I saw just made me wonder.
For me, condoms are for safety only. I'm not worried about the baby side of things. If a condom broke, she wasn't on the pill and she got pregnant, then I would have some serious throwdown with the doc that gave me my vasectomy.
But I know that scenario probably isn't the norm, and that other forms of contraception are usually needed, for more than just prevention of STDs.
I have seen several providers who are scruplous with used condom removal... one even filled it with water to check it... that was a really scary.

I had endometrial ablation surgery, which eliminates the risk of pregnancy. I use condoms for safety reasons only. I would recommend any provider, that can still have children, to use another form of contraception in addition to a condom. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!
I would like to see more men have a vasectomy....
it's a simple procedure....it's done in the Dr's office...they give a dose of Versed(like Valium)
makes you nice and relaxed....a little shot of lidocaine to numb up your nuts, a little snip and next thing you know,your "seedless".....
go home...veg out on the couch for a day,with ice on your nuts and your good to go!....With women,it's a much more invasive procedure....hospital,surgery,recovery....and a higher risk for complications....Hey they have to endure pregnancy and delivery....it's the least we could do for them!
i agree, plus they are reversable to some extent, and you can always have sperm frozen at a bank if you think you might change your mind down the road

A woman in this business needs to worry about birth control on her end. I'm all in favor of the vasectomy option but frankly I don't see it as a practical alternative for men who are not in a committed relationship and still planning on having kids some day.
Weather it be disease or unwanted pregnancy don't depend on someone else, especially not a total stranger, to worry about what could effect your own life and good health.

LOL.. Sorry I couldn't resist. I agree with you 100% In this case, birth control is on the woman. The man needs to make sure of his (relative) safety (no bbfs). In civie life it's on both partners to insure safety and no dependents running around.
