I'll make a comment that might help newbies in the future. If you want to suggest changes, enhancements or new functionality in TER the best, and obvious, place to make such posts is on the Suggestions and Policies board.

I'm sure the admins have plenty to do so may well miss a good suggestion that placed on some of the other boards -- or they may simply think that it it's not worth the effort to submit in the forum they created for just this purpose the post probably isn't all the serious so why should they care.

Just noticed something about the beta I haven't seen before and haven't seen discussed on the boards anywhere yet. You can now "like" a review.

I suppose this is what makes it newbie material: I don't really see the point.  Anyways back to our regular programming...

a few months back I suggested allowing reviews to be rated in the hope of making them better than the standard boilerplate so many are. The "general consensus" (of I think 4 people) was it would result in even more false elaboration. Not sure I agree but wasn't going to argue the issue.

As for "the point" of likes what's the point of liking any post or picture? I suspect the same will apply to a review.

I can sort of see the appeal of it - it's nice to know someone has read your review and it helped them out

It's one main reasons that I enjoy this board over the others.  Amazingly when people are civil with their comments, the dialogue is so much more enjoyable.  I appreciate the honesty that folks have when they post a question and the responses given by both clients and providers.

I've not yet become a fan of the new beta features, the readability is not as easy.  But I would concur that the "like" feature for a review doesn't really make any sense that I could see.  It would be more useful if the feature would lean more towards a lady concurring or not concurring with the review.  I know that a great number of ladies have expressed their wish to be able to leave their own comments on a review.  Perhaps this idea could kind of bridge that want for them.  Just my thought on the issue.

I mentioned something like this before. As someone who won't read many reviews, it helps me pinpoint to the most helpful (liked) reviews so I can get the info I need from just those reviews.

I will see how it goes and trust people will be savvy enough to pick out the most useful reviews.  Also hope people won't game the system with fake accounts for likes.
