A couple thoughts

Firstly, the guy trying to crowbar a deal is an asshole, and you should feel free to treat him like one.  But don't kid yourself; they're out there.

Like most businesses, there's no shortcut to success.  Many run grand opening specials, and offering discounts to TER members is one way of getting started.  PLEASE don't beg them for reviews, because that starts to look badly, like the review was in exchange for a discount.

There are many of us here that will wait it out until you're a proven item.  That sucks for you, but it's true.  There was a lady in my area that hit the boards hard, trying to get her start.  Her initial reviews were great, but she turned into a bit of a head case.  This business isn't for everyone, and it's important to many guys to know that you can handle it.  If you can't, it could come back on them.

I wish you well, and if you work hard in the beginning, you should do well.

Maybe some of the long-time hobbyists here can answer this for me. If I go with a provider who has a lot of reviews here on TER--in other words, someone who's been doing this for a while--what are my chances of running into law enforcement?

What I'm trying to say is, are there any ways to be 100% sure (or close to it) that you won't run into the law when you show up for your appointment?

Thanks to everyone for listening.

There is no 100% guaranty, but the approach you are taking is a good way to about this.  If she has multiple pages of good reviews, with some from known hobbyists that post on the boards, and is highly regarded on her local area hobbyists, you will not likely be caught in a sting.  You can always PM a few of her reviewers to put yourself at ease.  Your LE risk is higher from traffic violations on the way there and back, so be mindful of that, especially if you have drinks during the session...

Thanks a lot for the response...I really want to try this, but my fear of LE is getting in the way. I really appreciate the advice.

I think the greatest risk is from Craiglist. It gives Law Enforcement enought opportunities to find providers and clients that they do not have to go anywhere else. There is always some risk in any situation.

I'm not exactly new to this.  I've patroned a few ladies in Germany when I was in the Army.  I'm actually with a lady now, but I don't know how to say this.  Maybe it's I'm looking at the escorts for adventure or things that don't get done at home.

That being said, I have a special place in my heart for the Asian ladies.  I've looked at site over site, between NJ and NY areas.  Found several that appeal to the look and body and "reported" service levels.  I'm glad I joined this site to benefit from all your vast wisdom and knowledge.  Forgive me if I write too long, bad habit sometimes.

I've seen a couple reported listings on CL, that have the appearence of what I'm looking for, and in my area.  Most of the sites I see want 1.5 to 2 times more then what the CL ones are asking.  Isn't there some way to gauge if LE is involved?  I mean if a person shows up at an incall, for a reported GFE, you have the same amount of money that was listed on the add, you even put the money on a location, but don't hand or say it's for her, you just set it down, and you start getting into it, have you voilated ANY law?  Im in NJ.  Can I get some advice here, seriously?  Be straight forward, I don't get offended easy, was in Army.

The only way to be 100% sure of not running afoul of the law is to stay home and do-it-yourself.

Having said that, remember that GENERALLY the crime involved in the hobby is SOLICITING SEX FOR MONEY.  This may apply to either the provider or the client.  Don't ever ask specific questions about your 'date' to the provider; use her reviews (and ONLY use well reviewed providers with MULTIPLE reviews)to determine if she is going to make your happy or not.  When you meet, you should recognize her from her review pictures, if it is not her, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY.  Let nature take its course through your date and leave her gift in the white envelope or as agreed.

Some providers will not ask for the envelope and expect to pick it up after the fact.  LE is not supposed to engage in 'the act' with a provider but of course some will anyway.  NEVER get into a conversation with her before the fact about what you expect for X $$$.  I can't imagine a LE female actually engaging in sex with you to make a solicitation bust when you leave the envelope.

In the worst case scenario of being confronted by LE upon arrival at or departing her incall, ADMIT NOTHING.  Coming to see a woman who may (or may not) be a prostitute is NOT against the law. Its not even illegal to have sex with a woman who has had MULTIPLE prostitution convictions, its only illegal to sollicit her to do so.

Most LE stings against hobbyists are at the street level where they put a decoy LE female on a corner and bust the guys who sollicit sex from her.  It generally takes way too much effort to snag individual clients of a provider who is working appointments to be worthwhile.

Use your head and good judgement and always listen to that little voice inside.  If it ever says 'this ain't right' then listen and leave.

If the lady you see has many reviews and she is seeing people in an incall location or home i'm sure she is being discreet. Nosy neighbors tend to be more of a problem.

In most cases the lady is the one who gets arrested and your afraid you will be knocking on her door while LE is there. I'm sure if something didn't look or sound right you would leave and not make an approach.

All I can say is just do your homework.  Read the reviews, and avoid bad websites, like for me, craiglist.

That will help you reduce the risk, but not completely...

Or like some reply said...you could always accompany your hand..

I was really paranoid about it too (just had my first time last Thurs) but I did a couple things that put me at ease:

1. Read back about 30 or more pages in the newbie section to get some ideas.
2. Picked a provider that not only was what I wanted but had a decent number of reviews (over 5) from people who had also done a decent number of reviews (over 5).
3. I PM'd one of the guys who'd done the largest number of reviews (that had reviewed the girl I was looking at) and asked him about how he felt regarding the relative safety of the place.
4. Googled the phone number/email of the provider to make sure it didn't show up anywhere I felt uncomfortable about.

My fears were alleviated even more so when I found out she was in an apartment complex that required you to get buzzed in: from what I heard, LE would rather make it as easy as possible to get you in and so a buzzer entry would be less preferable to say a motel or something like that.

Basically I just read the reviews and made sure there were a decent number of recent ones.

Believe me, I was paranoid. Esp. since about 5 blocks from her place, there was a sting operation about 6 months back. And I can't tell you how nervous I was when I walked in there. But I also checked my surroundings and kept an eye out for anything that would look unusual. I also didn't do a thing about the money until after we had made contact and she was naked...not sure if that helps at all or not but I would think a female cop would want to get the money from you before she has to really do anything sexual to you. I could be totally wrong though.

At the end of the day, there's a risk involved, but do your research, PM people that reviewed her (assuming they did a few other ones too), and go back through the newbie forums because chances are, at least 75% of your questions have already been asked.

As a newbie, may I throw in my penny?  I've asked three gentlemen to review me.  One said a pleasure, yet it hasn't shown up yet, the 2nd will, he's a regular and the third said no, because I had no reviews so I must not be "that" good. Then he questioned why I needed validation from him on TER, "There must be a reason I'm asking for a review" If I'd been in the busines that long, wouldn't I already have some good reviews?
He suggested If I gave him a good deal I could come back and have him reevaluate me......?
Uh, duh, okay.
While I agree on all of the above statements.  Please remember to take pity on us newbies, guys.  It's very hard to start in this business then ask for reviews from men who want to be anonymous.  It's not likely we can make a living from just our TER list guys, especially who won't see a SP with no reviews.
It's a tough catch 22 and I know the reviews will come, but there's my thoughts.

Summarily not approving reviews by newbie reviewers, arbitrary and possibly duplicative standards of minimum “log-in” history in respect to new reviewers, and warrant-less banning of hobbyists for reasons of non regular participation (not logging in regularly) is increasingly confounding and intimidating the new hobbyist, while the casual or infrequent hobbyist is quietly being pushed out of the fold.

What was once a fun distraction/guilty pleasure is slowly being regulated into a subtle obligation to a constitution and life style that is understood, voluntarily followed, and adamantly championed by only the most unremitting of satyrs.

I just heeded all the advice, from the seasoned  hobbyist here on TER!...Chances are very good, that you'll have an uneventful evening(with LE,that is)....If your provider is anything like mine, your evening will be anything, but unevenful.(i mean that in a good way).....Good luck!

One thing that works is (unless you're really into variety) pick several providers and stick with them.  It only gets better with each visit and you can get some great info of other providers from the one you're visiting.  They have a really great community and really can help you with variety as well.

if  you see a Lady with several pages of reviews, and you are new to this, with no reviews, she is taking a much bigger risk than you are.

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the advice--there are some of the nicest people I've ever met online on this board. Here's what I'm still wondering about...if i pick someone who's well known, been doing it for a while, and has lots of reviews, doesn't that mean that LE must ALSO know about her (if she's so popular, that is)? And wouldn't that mean more of a chance of getting messed up with LE during an appointment?

Sorry for all the paranoid questions--I just want to do this right.

whcih would be the only way to get busted if neither of the parties is working with LE.

Let's just suppose for the moment LE knocked on the door, or even kicked it down, what would they charge you with? Having sex? Having sex is not a crime, unless they can prove there was money exchanged which is impossible unless one of you decides to confess. Any well reviewed provider is not going to just confess to the police, and I hope you would not either.Le is not going to waste their time on this type of approach.

A well reviewed providers biggest risk from LE is an undercover officer posing as a client(hence the need for screening), not being interrupted in the middle of a legitimate session

My point is, your chances of LE problems with a well reviewed provider while not 100% safe, are probably as safe as your chances of not getting into an accident on the way to the session.

Unless you can get comfortable with this issue, you will not enjoy your session, and I would recommend not proceeding if that is the case.

That being said, I would recommend you read back approximately 30 pages or so on this forum for all kinds of info and ideas; also read several pages of the Legal Corner.

If you are still "crapping your pants" about the whole venture, don't do it.

But if you decide to go ahead (as I would strongly recommend), you have lots of pleasure and great times to look forward to.

Good luck!
