Concerning STD 's and hobbying

Hi to all,  I have read the reviews in the past and it seems as though others have addressed the point about STD's in relation to BBBJ and DATY.  Certainly there is risk in anything in life but does anyone have tips on how to determine when to and not to?  I don't want to take anything home if you know what I mean.  I have always taken cover in the past but highly considering BBBJ and DATY

Also does anybody know of other sites that address STD from an oral standpoint?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been concerned about both BBBJs and DATY.  Though the Ctr for Disease Control says a man is not at risk for receiving a BBBJ, the woman is.  Which means that a provider who regularly offers BBBJ may be more likely to carry the HIV virus.  I like some of these providers and worry about their safety, too.  A hobbyist IS at risk for several other STDs from receiving a BBBJ and he is at "low" risk for HIV infection from DATY.  "Low" risk seems to me a kind of Russian Roulette and I don't want to play that--but I love DATY.  So: at first I felt silly, but I took Saran wrap with me on a "date," to use for DATY.  Two providers so far have said they were delighted that I was protecting myself and them. I admit it is not the same as unprotected, but it is better than no DATY and later, say when I wake at 3 am in the worrisome dark, I suffer no fears, no regrets.  Since I know my biggest sex organ is my brain, I've decided to keep wraps on the other places and let the brain run loose.

Just an FYI-
HPV- unspecified - aka genital warts
Can indeed be spread BBBJ
In the US one out of every 3 people carry it and are not even aware because they have no symptoms or have not had an expanded "smear" during yearly testing. HPV develops into cervical cancer for women which is fatal.
Since 1990 it has become what Herpes was in the free love movement in the 70's
Because you can be a carrier and not present with ANY symptoms again its very difficult to know you even have it. There are over 15 different strains of it now as well that have mutated in the last 7 years alone.

I happened to see Barewithme's post this afternoon just before my first ever encounter with a provider.  Glad I did.  His analysis struck the "dead on" chord with me.  Upon reflection, I really didn't want to play "Russian Roulette" with STDs, and I could easily see myself waking at 3 a.m. with fears and regrets.  So, I took two sheets of Saran wrap with me to my date.  This was an experienced out of town provider, who has excellent reviews on TEF and other sites, and is especially reknowned for her BBBJTC skills, rimming, fluency in Greek, etc.  At the appropriate juncture, I told her about the Saran wrap (I happened to have a cold sore in my mouth adding to my motivation to use the wrap), and used it for DATY and analingus.  Surprisingly (to me) this provider had never had a client use  it before.  We joked a little about giving it a try,but very quickly agreed that it felt good, and was DIFFERENT, which is a good thing in itself.  Now as I post my first review and this message, and bask in the afterglow of a fantastic sexual experience, I am doubly glad that I used the Saran Wrap to reduce my risk of contracting or spreading an STD, even if the risk reduction is only incremental.  thank you, Barewithme.  BTW, as a novice, I am very impressed with the quality of the reviews and board posts on TEF.

Slowrunner,

Since I'm only an occasional hobbyist, in essence a novice myself, your email reinforces my resolve (to think ahead of time when I'm thinking with my brain as opposed to another part of my anatomy).  So, thanks for that. I especially like your point that "different" can be, in and of itself, "good."  I wonder if there are any providers who can chime in as to whether this Saran Wrap procedure is unusual, seems weird, is welcomed or not, etc.?

hi guys, i'm not exactly a newbie provider, but this is my first ost to TER.  and i have to agree, the more willing a client is to use any sort of *cover*, the more at ease i will be with him because i know he is respectful of not only his body but mine as well.  i can honestly say that the experience is just as pleasurable when you are secure that you're being *safe*.

I am a relative newcomer to this hobby, and have only been with two providers on the last 2 years.  STD's have been a major stopping point for me.  I'm concerned about slowrunner's response that he went to see a provider with an active  "cold sore" in his mouth.  "Cold sores" ARE herpes, but we have invented these euphemisms of "cold sores," "fever blisters," etc. to deny what they really are.  Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) is commonly associated with oral herpes, however, more than 30% of new genital herpes infections are caused by HSV-1 because, you guessed it, the frequency of oral sex in this country.  HSV-2, commonly associated with genital herpes, is not as common orally, but does occur.  The bottom line is if you have a cold sore, or someone you are having sex with has a cold sore, it IS herpes, and you can infect your partner with it.  A great, informative site with tons of information about herpes can be found at www.racoon.com.

With an active lesion in your mouth, you are almost certain to infect someone without previous exposure to the virus, given the viral load present.  Also, if you have the virus, you can "shed" the virus asymptomatically, so even if you do not have an active cold sore, you can transmit the virus.  It is not as common, but if you have frequest outbreaks, research has shown that you will shed more frequently.

Notwithstanding the risk of HIV infection, which would not be as likely via receptive oral sex from a provider, if you are giving a provider oral sex who is HIV+, and she has any small tears in her vagina, any blood present in her vagina could harbor the virus and if you have any cuts in your mouth at all, you could become infected.  Gums are very susceptible--how many times have your gums bled when you brushed your teeth?  I'm not saying you WILL be infected, but you are definately increasing your risk.

I think it is very important to become more educated about this issue.  I had a scare with my first contact with a provider who gave me a BBBJ.  I thought I had contracted herpes, however, it turned out to be a false alarm, thankfully.  However, when you run the risk of contracting something and bringing it home to a SO, it is really important to be as safe as possible.

I bet many providers are not as educated about the risks as well--I would bet they would be less likely to to things like BBBJ and allow unprotected DATY if they were more aware of the risks.  Slowrunner's provider obviously had no clue how at risk she was given the presence of an active herpes lesion in his mouth.

I don't mean to scare everyone, but I think I have pretty much given up on this because of my experience.  I have never had an STD, test negative for both types of HSV, and am not willing to expose my wife to anything.
