This is an issue that is very board worthy.

Please come to L.I.--- anyone.

I was visiting NY last week and I decided, based on this board's advice, to arrange a meeting last Thursday with a lady from a very well respected agency.  This is the beginning of my reentering the hobby and here is my experience.

I arranged a date before getting to NY.  On Thursday, I called ahead of time to confirm the location and get the room number.  I was told the lady couldn't make it and I should reschedule with someone else.  Based upon what I was looking for, they suggested someone for the next day (ugly weather Friday).  I called 2 hours ahead to confirm the location and room number and got the agency's outgoing message.  I never received any calls from them, all the calls were generated by me.  The operator was very friendly, I assume well-intended and helpful with the selection process but what good is all that if there isn't anything to show for it.

Maybe I just shouldn't be hobbying!!

out them on the board and let's look at their response....

that BDJ was not the agency at issue?

I agree with the thought that you should let us know which agency it was -- not good at all.

There are some lovely - and incredibly exciting - ladies in NYC who handle their own bookings, and who are completely and totally responsible (and wonderfully responsive).  Please don't forget the independents!

LURKER on this board!
Come out in the open..we'll all provide assistance!

The intent of my email was more more about my getting back into the hobby and the octacles than outing an agency.  I engage int e hobby only when I travel and don't come to NY that often.  But at the board's request, I had used Aphrodite last week.  They could not have been nicer on the phone but didn't come through (sorry about the pun).

Ziggy...sounds like we're in somewhat of the same boat, getting back into the hobby after taking some time away.  Based upon your experience, it's too easy to chalk it up as a "sign" but in reality, it was just either bad timing, or weather realated situation, etc...
Hang in there!
