I wonder why Julie's was busted.  They were in business for years and the police certainly knew about them.  Same for American Beauties.  I think what started the ball rolling (downhill) was Jason's big mouth quote in the NY Post.   The minute he says the cops are friends of his, they are more than likely to bust him to show the public that he was just mouthing off (whether true or not).  I think the reason American Beauties was busted first was so that the bust of NY Confi didn't smack of direct police retribution for his remarks. And then they followed it up with Julie's to ensure that the public didn't think LE was lenient with prostitution and were really only out to punish Jason for his remarks.  Otherwise, why would Julie's have been able to stay in business for so many years?  They certainly weren't operating without the knowledge of LE.  I think LE  busted other escort agencies to cover their footprints after they treaded all over Jason.  I don't think there was anything wrong with Jason running a high-end escort business, but if you're going to do so, keep your fuckin' mouth closed!  Hopefully, a lesson has been learned by many.

Jason may have been the author of his own demise, but linking him to Julie's makes no sense to me.  The only explanation for busting Julie's and heightened enforcement generally was that the Mayor wanted a clean city for the Olympics and ordered a crackdown.  Remember the cops' explanation for the bust -- that Julie intentionally hired and groomed underage girls?  Complete bullshit.

As for the lesson to be learned, it is IMO to be vigilant about keeping our private matters private.  I dont think we've learned that lesson at all.  A popular provider thinks it's perfectly OK to cozy up to a reporter who then writes an article read by the entire city talking about TER.  That's not my idea of discretion, privacy or respect.

I agree that discretion is important and that we should "keep private matters private." In fact, I said the same thing several hours ago in a post in the Cover Story thread below.

However, the article was NOT triggered by a "popular provider" (two, actually) "cozy[ing] up to a reporter who then . . ."  Fact of the matter is, the article was in the works, it would have happened with or without such cozying. And that cozying did not lead to the inclusion of TER in the article - take a look at the last 2 paragraphs on page 5 of the online version of the story! Overall, I think it better that there was some input from the white hat side of the fence.

But, yes, the lesson is discretion, diecretion, discretion - especially in public.

I didnt mean to suggest that the provider(s) triggered the story though my post could have been construed that way.  I agree; the story would have been written in any event.

How is posting graphic reviews, blatantly advertising sex in exchange for money, discreet?

Sometimes the political tea leaves fall that way. Right now, it's the rednecks and Hitlerjunge who run this country, not right minded folks like you and me :).  As for Jason, he could make Dennis Rodman look low key, and he essentially called them out, and I'm sure he had more than a few guys in his pocket. What else would you expect?

they weren't singled out. Places get popped every day but you just don't hear about it. Jason & Julie both bragged and called attention to themselves.
