There are a myriad of reasons to use an alias. It's a VIP priviledge on the boards.

Maybe I should have titled this Stop the FUCKING whinning, Part II.

I've gotten several PM's regarding the use of aliases and I've seen posts denegrating a message simply because it was posted under an alias.

But like it or not, multiple aliases are part and parcel of TER.  It's completely OK to have as many aliases as you wish, and to use them whenever you want.  So the bottom line is any member of TER who wishes to use an alias is perfectly within their right to do so.

I realize that some of you have a problem with someone who posts a negative message while using an alias... And while you may think it is cowardly, as long as it falls within TER guidelines it has every right to be posted.  To use or not use an alias for whatever reason is a personal choice, cowardly or not, and it WILL be allowed.

Responses that attack that person for his choice to do so, however, will NOT be allowed.  If you have a problem with the content of the post, by all means feel free to disagree and respond, but don't make an issue out of the use of an alias... if you do, it won't make the front page or it will be deleted from the board.

I've already seen too many flame wars and hard feelings caused by people attacking an alias and assuming that they know who it is, when the fact is that they have no idea of the identity of the "real" poster.

So as long as aliases are allowed by TER, they're going to be a non-issue on this forum.

If you use your TER handle instead of an alias in the discussion boards, try Googling your handle! Turns out my handle says something about me which I use elsewhere and which I would rather keep private.  I don't mind using my handle in review because these are NOT PUBLIC (Google does not know about them).  However, the TER discussion boards are public and Google knows about them.  Try it!

If the presence of an alias opining differently sends you into a rage of righteous indignation perhaps the more controlled and oppressive climate of a hobby site that disallows aliases would be more to your liking.
However; be forewarned. The vast majority of those co-ed hobby discussion boards are lame as hell thanks to the omnipresent political pratfalls to be considered when speaking out on subjects that could indirectly affect others, or directly effect you and your future dealings with those others.
