If this "advocacy group" is not LE, how did she have several items confiscated?  Your subject line says she was busted, which means arrested then you say she wasn't arrested.  In any event, the question of being arrested would only apply if LE was present.  Please clarify.

A couple days ago, one of my favorites was contacted by an "advocacy" group working with local LE.  She wasn't arrested, but had several items confiscated, and was kicked out of the Extended Stay America where she was staying.  So  you all need to be on the lookout for this "advocacy" group, and I would recommend against using any Extended Stay Americas as your incall, they're probably all on high alert after the incident.

The group was being assisted by an off-duty police officer, who confiscated several of her valuables in the process.

If that off-duty officer was acting as a police officer, which could happen, he violated that provider's constitutional rights (4th amendment) since he didn't have a warrant.  (A warrant would never be served by an off-duty cop.)  And if he took those items, without the provider's permission, he (or she) is guilty of theft.  But how did these people gain access to this provider's premises?  Too many questions about this whole deal.  And perhaps those "holier than thou" .... "let me save you from yourself" people broke laws as well.  More info would be appreciated.  Since the OP doesn't have VIP, he needs to come onto this board and tell what he can.  Did he really think he could post something like this and not expect a deluge of PMs?  C'mon, Van...  give us some more. Pretty sure you can do so without providing personal details....

Cops, even when on duty, lie and break the law all the time.  Most people, including my friend, do not fully understand their rights, so the cops get away with this on a regular basis.  As for the advocacy group, they called posing as a client, referring to her BP ad.  She was careless in this instance, and once they were knocking on her door, it was too late, as hotel staff had also been alerted.  I don't know who the advocacy group was, my friend didn't mention a name.  As you might imagine, she's rather shaken up about the whole thing, so I'm not pressing her too much.  The main thing is for everyone to avoid Extended Stay America, and for the ladies to screen, screen, screen.

Van,
The provider or you can easily pass a clarifying message to any of the leading providers who will pass it to a reliable leading scheduler, security checker to validate.

The particular chain of hotels that you mention is utterly irrelevant.  If the story is true, the same approach could be run anywhere.

If you do not have VIP days, it is easy to earn them without writing a review.  Simply search any name (e.g. Lynn) and exclude bad websites and look at the ad links starting on the oldest entries.  You will soon start finding dead links.  For every problem report you file to clean the board, you get two free VIP days.

You can't bomb this board like this and expect people to not ask what you are talking about.

An advocacy group runs off with valuables?

We use to have a name for that -- confidence men.

I think she was robbed.
