Does anyone know for sure if LE is getting pretty ambitious about crippling our hobby with Super Bowl on the horizon

Has it stopped or crippled hobbying in the Super Bowl cities?  No.  But it is a time to be extra cautious.

Recently, I was in a coffee shop speaking with a professor of mine that was visiting for a presentation about sex work in general. A woman that is part of the Women's Foundation of Minnesota overheard our conversation and in what was the most polite fashion inserted herself into the conversation. Now, as a student I enjoy civil discourse and intelligent dialogue but what I heard absolutely boggled my mind. And I have to remember that one representative doesn't always equate to the whole but if they believe that every single person that partakes in sex work is trafficked, we have a long road ahead. In addition, it was clear that the basis of every argument had a philosophical argument based on a religious principle. We chatted about the upcoming Super Bowl and the working going into it. Between the research being done, the ramp up law enforcement, trainings for everyone, including Super Bowl volunteers, and the estimated "100,000 people that will arrive within a month span (two weeks before & two weeks after the Super Bowl", they are getting ready. Now, we all recognize trafficking does occur but for those of us who do partake consensually, we have to be more careful. And while I recognize it may harm me in the long run, I rather have a stricter screening process than too light of one.

And while I gave them and the UofM's Urban Research & Outreach-Engagement Center kudos for also looking at how things like gender, racism, body size, location, etc. impact sex work as a whole, they clearly have a lot of work to do on their own in regards to their base assumptions, and stigmatized view of consensual sex work.  You should check out their website... it's intriguing. do equate all providers with trafficking.  They don't seem to care to know the truth or tell the truth because it doesn't fit their narrative. Plus, they get money from the feds and state legislature to fight human trafficking.  We, in here, don't see eye to eye on everything, but from what I've read over the years,  I think a few things we'd be united in are anti-trafficking and anti-child/minor activities, or pimping. I've never once read anything that remotely promotes any of those activities in here. I think that speaks volumes!  We're  only adults wanting to freely, voluntarily/consentually partake in adult companionship.  I rarely watch the local news, but I happened to catch a segment last week (I think channel 5). They were talking to the local "experts" prepping to fight trafficking during super bowl. They are having info sessions for people renting houses, apts, and condos during that time.  They figure the traffickers will be working out of rented residences.  So they're already planning. I'd expect some stings to start soon and around the holidays so they can get their message out early and often. They definitely want the word to spread.  So be careful!!!!

Do politician’s/LE participate in this lifestyle? Well… LOL… I agree with what everybody has mentioned. I think there is still some human trafficking locally, as you can see by some of the busts that happen. But women’s groups, politicians, LE try to put all of this as the same

Never believe the media about this lifestyle and especially channel 5. Do any of you remember that it was not that many years ago, when channel 5 sent a reporter down south to ambush an escort, when she walked out of her home!

It's called the Nordic model and increasingly laws are being based on this model.  Basically, it says that all escorts are victims and the rest of us are predators.  What's that you say?  You contacted the escort and she, being of free mind and a legal adult, agreed to spend some quality time with you.  It does not matter.  No women in her right mind would agree to do such a thing unless some male (that would be you) coerced her in some manner.

A suggestion: For providers interested in remaining engaged but away from the spotlight...go north! We have a virtual drought of available providers in the northern reaches of the state. (Duluth, Brainerd, Bemidji, Fargo/Moorhead. If you stay UTR and post here rather than on the few sites we can get a possible lead, you will likely find an enjoyable, safe, receptive clientele that will certainly appreciate the effort on your part. Stay away from the chaos and scrutiny of LE at the superbowl and go north, young lady, go north!

There's definitely been money going into new task forces etc. to crack down in the twin cities. Echoing others, It's an especially good time to stick with reviewed an established playmates. Be safe and have fun! xoxo-Holly

This summer I read an article I believe was in the mpls tribune about 3 teams being assembled for sex trafficing.  The 3 teams would consist of le in twin cities area along with volunter le from outside twin cities. The teams would perform stings starting in fall. I dont know if the stings in bloomington in late august were part of it. Also there been education seminars in eden prairie and eagan hotels along with woodbury le having all that grant money they received to distribute for trafficing. So the moral of the story is be extra careful and maybe refrain from hobbying for while until the smoke clears. Any useful knowledge let people know. During the republican convention some years back lots of people got nailed.

I was thinking how much or if anything have changed. I went to the super bowl wayyy back in January 1975 in New Orleans. Vikes played Steelers and the Vikes lost.

After the game we went down to Bourbon street (was it Bourbon street?) after the game. All the strip bars were open to every age group…I was much younger. But I was a male with a chronic wood problem down there, so girls on the street and strippers in the bars could not resist me…I thought that I was in heaven.

Can you beat this, the whole plane crew got drunk at the game, so when we were taking off the pilot hit the wing of the plane right into the airport terminal.

Now the problem is the NFL…

they have to show results.  Instead of focussing on minors and foreign trafficking which is dangerous and takes a lot of detective work, they go for the easy pickings of Craigslist and BP and the poor relative of a public figure nabbed for not being cautious. k

If they truly meant what they said, they would put more effort into catching the real traffickers and abusive pimps and leave the independents alone.e

just sayin...

I just posted on another thread something similar but it applies here- I let my Eros ad expire a month or so ago because my inbox was getting "messy" with guys who were obviously not going to screen and I figured it was because of the super bowl coming. I would answer the question to this thread as a definite yes. I have increased my  already tight screening standards since then and changed my business model for even more safety because of it.
