Detroit-Area people- where do you hobby?

I'm curious for both provider and hobbyist input here.  I'm planning a trip to the Detroit area in August, and was wondering where you all hobby.  I've done some research that recommends Bloomfield, Novi, Livonia, and Troy (although Troy reportedly is heavy on LE).  Does anyone hobby in Detroit proper?

I've also met some ladies in the Southfield area. I've also heard the same thing about LE in Troy—never had fun in Troy as of yet. If ladies are located in Detroit proper it's the downtown area...but I stick to the suburbs.
