And dreaming about Maryland Crab Cakes! You could work for the Maryland Dept Of Tourism, 'cause now you have me wanting to come for a visit! I do think the Inner Harbor is really pretty and a neat place to hang out.

Well you and Betty are reason enough to visit for me anyway! ;-)

xoxo,

Steph

I love seafood (being from the Caribbean) and living in Annapolis.

I love G&M Crabcakes in Baltimore. I also love Minatos, they have great sushi, etc. In Annapolis I love O'Leary's. I thought with that name, seafood?

I'm learning how to pronounce all the names like Jayla said (but it's harder than you'd think, LOL!)

When I get home in August I will go to Ocean City...never been but it sounds fun!!

I found this online and thought it'd be good to share.

You know your from Maryland when…..
You can pronounce and spell "Pocomoke," "Mattaponi," "Accokeek,"
and "Havre de Grace"
You pronounce "Bowie" BOO-ie not BOW-ie or BAUW-ie
1 hour is an easy commute to work
You have more than three recopies for crab cakes
French fries just don't taste right without Old Bay
You refer to your state as "Merlind"
You still call Six Flags America "Adventure World", or even "Wild World"
You still remember the Wild World commercial (Wild World's the cure for the summertime blues!)
You not only know how to eat hard crabs but you also know how to catch them, cook them and tell the males from the females.
You still root for the Orioles and the Redskins even when they suck
You'll never understand why tourists come to DC.
Your whole family lives within a 200-mile radius of your town.
Dale Earnhardt's accident was a close personal loss to your father
During the summer, you spend more time in Ocean City than at home.
When the forecast calls for snow, you PANIC!
You know how to pronounce 'Towson'
You remember what the Inner Harbor looked like before it was the Inner Harbor.
You love the Domino Sugar sign you can see across the harbor.
You know Annapolis & Hopkins are national treasures & you get a kick out of hearing them named in movies or TV.
Every kitchen has a can of Old Bay.
You remember the Civic Center and the Capital Center.
You say "Blare Road" for Bel Air Road
You know which bridge their talking about; when someone says "The bridge traffic is backed up."

Welcoome to Charm City Hon'!

Along with the many Museums and Galleries, I enjoy the different outdoor Festivals hosted each year in Baltimore.  I especially enjoy the Art exhibits down at Fells Point.  The entire area is closed to traffic during these events.  There is something there for everyone to see.

The Jazz Festival and Music Festivals are always good.  I also enjoy the outdoor movies shown in Little Italy.  Oh and let's not forget about Preakness!  Get out your best dress and hats ladies!

Below is a small description of the Hon Fest from the Baltimore Hon Fest Site:
http://www.honfest.net/index.html

The Hon is Not a Dying Breed

HonFest is a local tradition. The Bawlmer term of endearment, Hon, short for Honey, embodies the warmth and affection bestowed upon our neighbors and visitors alike by historic working-women of Baltimore. HonFest is an annual celebration in honor of these women.

Since 1994, HonFest has grown from a tiny Baltimore's Best Hon pageant behind Café Hon, to a nationally recognized festival that covers four city blocks on Hampden's very own 36th Street.

Come to Baltimore and have some fun!

Great places all over MD.  My favs include many in St. Mary's county and all over the Eastern Shore.  And living in Montgomery County provides great access to Baltimore, D.C. and NOVA

Now I will have to wait for it to be moderated before it is reposted.  :)

I really enjoyed reading both yours and Jayla's posts.  I wrote a post about the things I like doing in Baltimore since that is where I am located.  I saw a post that said not to turn this board into a Baltimore Board.  I am sure Baltimore may be focused on a bit more.   Since Baltimore is the largest independent city in the United States, that is understandable.  We all know this is the Maryland Board.  Baltimore is part of Maryland right?  LOL

Okay hon's!  Please check for my post later!  I'm sure it will be up soon.

Much Love and Hugs, Betty xoxo

Still say Camden yards is the best place to watch a game, even if the team is lacking.

Our own little itally is fabulous for dining.

Lots of places in the country, Loch Raven Res and the streams up in harford county.  Great for walks, biking, or boating.

Ocean city deserves a post by itself.

Last but not least, the fabulous local ladies that are very under appreciated.

I'm sure having grown up around the Baltimore area has made me slightly impartial but I would much prefer a night of bar hopping in Baltimore to DC.  Bouncing from Fells Point to Canton or Charles Village is so much easier than trying to go from Georgetown to Adams Morgan.

If you don't know where it is you need to spend a day/night in historic Ellicott City!  Fun bars and restaurants in a really cool little area.  The harbor area in Annapolis is also fantastic.  The historic section of Frederick is nice too!

Having spent several years living in OC the draw of going there in the summer isn't there for me anymore.  I actually prefer going west into the mountains around Deep Creek.  Lots to do up there in summer or winter!

Also, if you're not familiar with many of them there are loads of great brew pubs and wineries within an hours drive of Baltimore.  You could probably go somewhere each week without going to the same place twice in a year.  Lot's of great local food and drink.

I'm sure I've left out a ton!

No place I'd rather live than Bawlmer!

Go O's Hon!

Strip clubs suck out here.  I used to drop a hundred a month in Indiana.  Now I drop less than $100 a year.

Marylanders don't know how to merge, nor do they understand the concept of moving over a lane to allow someone to merge.

Old Bay rocks.  As do Tastykakes.

It's not my fault the Colts went to Indiana.  Get over it.

Naming the new team the Ravens due to Baltimore's association with Poe kicks ass.  I wish I had seen the Poe Toaster before the tradition died.

The hobby scene is 1000 times better out here, as are the women we are fortunate enough to spend time with.

Cheers!

I'm another misplaced Midwesterner as my family moved every couple years when I was young and I ended up here by default; however, I love Maryland. I have been an O's fan for 40 years and attended my first MLB game here. Now I am a season ticket holder and like Cayden, love to hate the O's at times.  Ravens Rock!  I love crabs, Red Eye Dock Bar, Gunnings, Annapolis, OC.  In OC Seacrets is great during the day and I also like Mackey's at 54th Street.  Politics and taxes aside, Maryland is a wonderful place to live with so much to do.  I am realatively new to the Hobby, but come on, check out the neighboring boards, our women are HOT, and so many lovelies come to the region. We have it made!

Let's add:

Wine Festival in Westminster...good stuff
Scenic 68 out toward Cumberland...beautiful
Communities like Epping Forest...healthy, family stuff...

You are right about Annapolis; the Chart House in Philly was actually better food-wise, but the on-the-Severn atmosphere is not to be missed...OC of course...

And although people want to avoid mentioning Baltimore, the city is big enough to have everything a city should have, and small enough to be really accessible...discounting the public transportation, which often sucks and is almost always late...

Camden Yards remains the best place in MLB to see a game, facility-wise...the community often has been given nothing from the Os to rally around over the last decade, so the atmosphere can be an epic fail at times, but there's no better stadium on earth when the Os are winning...

Isn't it jousting skill in hooping rings with a stick?  And not jousting in terms of going at a guy with a lance?
