I have girlfriend that pays 700$ to a internet site to take down her mugshot every time she try's to get a job. It only stay down a short time then it pops back up. Sucks.
If a smart attorney had balls possible about to retire, he hold the party that takes the picture respectable . Class action dear. Honestly if it's against the law or even well protected info to get a officers home address and personal info ( family stuff) from the department that took picture then aren't they accountable in some % ? Has to be "! Come on.
Longer publish mugshot of individuals that are arrested. The reason being that Internet sites were republishing the photos and then charging a fee in the range of $300 to $400 to have it removed. Obviously this was not done to protect the individuals that were arrested by to limit the freedom of the Internet companies to make money from the various LE agencies that published the mugshots online. Also, one of the counties in the Atlanta metro area has outsourced access to court cases to a private firm and you must pay a fee to obtain the status of a case. The only reason I bring this up is because I am following the arrests of some providers that stole some money from me a couple years back and also the progress on the prosecution of a couple that their escort agency was raided and closed. I know a lot of people don't follow these events but since they stole money from me I am at least getting some satisfaction that their lives are not turning out so great.
I *think* (so don't quote me or sue me...) that in many cases these are service providers in addition to the normal route of public records. It may be difficult to find, or pursue, the public route but its still there. Everyone involved would just prefer you spend the $$ for what you would be freely entitled to.
All three of my kids and their husbands have mugshots on these websites from previous arrests (I have a very dysfunctional family).
What I find very troubling is where is the so-called presumption of innocence? In their cases they were all guilty as hell, I'm sure, but what if someone got arrested for a crime he/she didn't commit and was found innocent? Why should that person have to deal with having their mugshot posted online?
