some of it may not be, given someone's situation. The one that jumped out to me is "don't plead guilty, take it to trial to overload the system." This is a classic collective action problem: that's great advice if EVERYONE makes that choice but if not (which is never going to happen, BTW, for all sorts of reasons I'm not going to get into here) then it boils down the individual case. This means determining whether or not your case has a viable defense. If it does not, you could lose the benefit of a early plea that is much less damaging in the long run, not to mention much less expensive if you have retained an attorney.

Here are the two things you should do for sure:

1) Shut the fuck up. As my good friend, Ron White, notes, "I had the right to remain silent but I didn't have the ability!" It is a very rare occasion when someone improves their situation by flapping their jaw. Any time a cop asks you a question beyond your name and ID, they are collecting evidence to be used against you. Very innocuous statements can be turned in very interesting ways to be deemed incriminating. I've never seen anyone make their case worse by shutting up. I've seen dozens of people, some of whom were innocent, cost themselves thousands of dollars by talking.

2) As soon as possible, talk to an experienced attorney who is familiar with the charges AND the jurisdiction where you will be prosecuted. There is a lag time between the date of the arrest and the arraignment where a knowledgable attorney can intercede with the prosecutor's filing decision. This, too, is fact specific but in the right set off circumstances, a good attorney can "head them off at the pass," if you will. I know this because I've done it.

Of course, as my mother always said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Get a VIP membership, use it to only see girls who have 5 or more reviews, reach out to your brothers here to confirm someone if appropriate and you never need to deal with this. It's also another reason I gravitate to porn chix, when I book Trinity St. Clair and she's the one who answers the door, I'm pretty sure she's not a cop.

are arrested NO ONE was ever "un-arrested" because they tried to explain their way out of it.

If you're told you're being arrested it's too late for that.  Let your lawyer work it out with the prosecutor.
