3 Felony plea deals - Sample Court Updates  

1) Two of five took early plea deals - Rose Garden
7/25/2016: Two of the gals took quick plea deals from March 3, 2016 bust after the usual "John Roll" Also undercover's naked to their briefs had hidden microphone to record offer for sex in grand jury supervening indictment (57 pages).   Asked how he could record the conversation with only his briefs on by the grand jury, they were told it was a police tactical secret.  

Both workers took plea deals: Guilty to a felony of Attempted Operating or Maintaining a House of Prostitution.
In exchange charges of  criminal enterprise and two counts of prostitution are dismissed.
Sentencing 8/24/2016  

Owner, manager, and one other gal haven't taken pleas. Trial scheduled for October but if don't take pleas will probably get continued well into 2017.  

One of the workers that pled when detective asked about extra's said "maybe next time" and with another undercover insisted on no payment until the session was over.   The John Roll was the key for probable cause.

Initially, 3 arrested in raid, then from the records taken in the raid arrested two more who had worked there.  This is typical. In the Temple case many more women were arrested after the raid including at least one that hadn't worked there for a year and another than had worked only 3 months long before the raid.  They find all prior in addition to current workers and include them in the grand jury indictment.

2) Husband and wife small agency team. Both consenting adults
BP ad for "petite Thai Lady"  which was wife who he had met in Thailand.  Husband answered the phone, set up appointment for 1 hour at $250.  

As soon as undercover put the money on a table the bust team came in to arrest. He popped out of the closet?  He said he didn't watch but wore   headphones and readings a book.  His wife admitted only that she massaged men, no sex.   He also drove her to the hotel.

Had been married 3 years. His prior wife committed suicide in 2010 leaving him with two young children and had a drinking problem and had no other job to support the children.

After bust wife wanted to return to Thailand but had no money and man wanted her to stay and take care of young children.  

Man pled guilty to "attempted pandering" a felony and sentenced to 18 months probation.
As part of plea charges of receiving earnings of a prostitute, induce to prostitution and transportation for purpose of prostitution were dismissed.

Appears she was not charged (considered a victim).

3) Ryan/Diana case consenting adults
Scottsdale police called by the management of Motel 6 at 6848 Camelback Road since hotel staff reported various men going in and out of the room after man and wife with same last name checked in. Police found Diana in the room but she denied she was a prostitute.

PD found another adult women had been working out of the room who had come with the couple from California who said the couple placed ads for her on BP.

Ryan pled guilty to a sex trafficking felony and sentenced to six years in prison.  Charges of criminal enterprise, receiving earnings and induce to prostitution were dismissed as part of the plea deal.  

Diana pled to facilitation to commit criminal enterprise felony and sentenced to 1-year probation. Charges of illegal control of a criminal enterprise and induce to prostitution were dismissed in the agreement.

Other adult woman was not charged and considered a "victim".
