Are the independents truly independent?  One hobbyist mentioned to me that some of them most likely have "managers" managing their money.  Is this true?  I rememeber the story of what happened to poor Lauren.  If it was my choice, I wouldn't have anyone "manage" me.  But then again, I'm not in the profession.  Just a thought.

Some have managers, some have pimps, some are agencies trying to look like independents.  Some are truly independents.  When a lady in this buisness lets a guy control her money, that guy is basically a pimp.  There is another sort, who arrange appoinments, take care of advertising, make travel arrangements, and get paid a salary by the provider.  This sort I have heard called "managers", "operators", or "assistants".  Personally, I don't see anything wrong with this model, it frees up more of the ladies time to actually see clients.  The only problem is when a manager decides they are really a pimp.  Which is, from what I understand, what happened to Lauren.  Anyway, I don't think a lady is any less of an independent because she has an assistant to take care of the buisness side of things.Falcon
