You are 100% right that picking a good provider goes a long way, but we're all human, and even the best provider can have a last minute problem (car trouble, migraine, family emergency, who knows).

I plan to visit Las Vegas in Mid August for my birthday and wanted to try a dinner date. Having experienced last minute cancellations in the past how many appointments should I setup to guarantee that I will have a date on my birthday?
I think you shouldn't setup more than one date at a time, but have a plan B ready.
If you pick one of the top girls your risk of getting a cancellation are small.
However, to be extra safe, I would get verified by one of the top agencies (HHPC or 100 proof) as they can usually help you get a last minute date if your first girl cancels.
the less likely you are to get a last minute canx.
SanJoseGuys' advice about getting verified through one of the agencies is a solid way to go too.
However, if it's your birthday dinner date, let the girl know it's your birthday dinner date. Call, email, or text her the day before and make sure everything is still a "GO" and then about 3 or 4 hours before the designated time, check with her again and you should be good.

What works best for me, is staying in contact.
I like to stay in contact, chitchat and whatnot up until the day of our date.
I'd personally feel horrible if I ruined someone's birthday so with that knowledge in mind I don't think any girl would.
Planning multiple dates at the same time isn't fair to to let's just say the two back-ups...
Unless of course they knew they were back-ups... Even still, it's kind of unfair.
You should find a solid girl, then of worse case it doesn't work out, plenty of ladies don't mind last minute calls and I guess agencies on the board are cool too.

I've been canceled or postponed at the last minute by 1500.00 ladies as well as 400.00 ladies. You just never know sometimes. Life happens. Have an agency back up and let whichever lady you book originally know how important the date is to you up front. Most will do their best to not let you down. However, their is a small group of ladies out there that will drop you in a heartbeat for a better offer. After all it's only business. Just like there are guys that will cancel at the last minute because of cold feet or they lost their shirt gambling before the appointment. This little world is no different then the bigger one. It's filled with all sorts. So remember have an agency back up or meet and remember ladies that aren't opposed to last minute appointments with gentleman they know and trust. Most ladies will treat you right, just prepare for the unexpected.
I know in Vegas from when the gents come into town they usually set up 2 appoinments when seeking a date because Vegas is known for a 50/50 chance on the lady showing up. I hate missing gents and ave guys NCNS on me from ime to time.What I would do is have her call to confirmthe day of.I always do before every date and let the guy know what i am doing,what time i will be getting ready and what time I will be arriving because i am detail orientated,maybe OCD and obsessed w/ getting to him on time...just my 2 cents
