my apologies i got them confused with the blue angels, they used to come to opa locka and i remember the F 18

This will be my first air show ever . I was in the military in Europe and got to see our tremendous equipment in action . Unfortunatly I also was in the first gulf war in Kuwait and saw a little more of it than I would have liked .
They announced two B1 bombers are going to be there . I'm guessing they will fly pretty low and fast down the beach .
An F15 squadron , the Thunderbirds , Blue angels ( I think ) , a amphibious marine landing , Navy seals repelling down hotels , cobra helicpters - just gonna be a sensory overload !
I know to get to the beach early as the crowds are insane . Storing a cooler and chair at a friends apt.
Thinkg a short taxi ride from the house is the best bet .
I also heard there is live music . I'm guessing on the beach after the show ?
Any ladies going ? So far I am going solo , but would love to share the experience with someone .

What can you tell me about what to exoect as I have never witnessed this ?

I DO remember (even then) they were AWESOME!

I like your thread. I hope you find a girl & have a grrrrrrreat time!

Please keep us posted.

Oh ya... I forgot to tell you... It's LOUD!

I used to go to the air show every year when I was a child. Even though I am a girl that loves girly things the air show is still a great time:-)
The size of these planes are captivating! Then to imagin them being in action is beyond me. I love it when the blue angels do their show it is awesome! They are so fluid and fast! You can feel the strength and power in the air!
I also remember getting to tour some of the jets that was cool too. They even had some older modles of planes from ww2 and stuff. I am not sure what events are planned this year but it is sure to be a blast!
Thank you to all our veterans! Much love to you and your families xoxo

The air and sea show is an exciting event here in fort lauderdale.  My favorite way to observe the show is by getting a room on the beach someplace.  I like to stock my own bar and have my own toilet. I'm not a fan of big crowds or port o potties.  And if you are anyplace around Sunrise Blvd, it is crazy packed with limited space to sit.  And zero shade!!! So plan accordingly and get there early if your not staying in a hotel. Plan to park on the west side of the intercoastal bridge and bring your walking shoes.  Parking and traffic are also an issue/adventure.  Usually when the thunderbirds are attending the blue angels do not, it's usually one or the other.  This year it is the Thunderbirds, no Blue Angels :(  Hopefully we will see it return next year along with the Angels.  This year I'll be attending from the comforts of my beach house :) while I'm not at center stage, the week leading up to the show is filled with plenty of fly-by's and practice runs.  It's a week of air show in Fort Lauderdale :)....And plenty of men in uniform :0)
Enjoy

Air shows are always neat.  But the best show I have every seen was a glider that did aerobatics to classical music that was being played.  Last maneuver was down the runway at about 10 feet- inverted.  Then he pushed an outside loop and rolled upright at the top and then landed at the bottom of the loop. This was a glider mind you. Talk about energy management--wow.  The guy must have had big, big big ones!!!

it started at opaloka air port and i think it was better because people got to see the planes upclose and personal and also pilots
now its at the beach, better get there REALLY earlie cause it get busy with ALOT of people
as far as the thunder birds i think its F18 that they used F15's have not been used in a while
I have to say that its a good show, take lots of water sun screen and enjoy

Just the Thunderbirds this year, no Blue Angels.  It'a flight of four F-15's, but no real demo as in years past.  This show will have about half of what the original Air and Sea Show had.  Unless they get some last minute additions, like an F/A-18 demo or an F-22 demo, or General Steve Ritchie's F-4 Phantom demo, I'm sitting this one out.  And I'm an aviation kinda guy, too.  Maybe next year they'll get a full show.

They do almost a full rehersal on the Friday before the show, expecially the Blue Angels!!  The beach is not crowded, parking is easy and almost the entire event goes as planed to check timing, spacing, get anouncers ready for show etc..

Anyone care to go on Friday and avoid the lines, crowds, ....

I have been searching for what Fridays " rehearsal " is going to entail ...........
Pretty empty search's and the locals I have spoken to said not really much goes on on Friday as far as practice runs .
They stated that the earlier runs last month gave them the data they needed .
I am going down around noon anyway . I live about 2 miles from A1A and Sunrise , so no big loss to be on the beach drinking beer in anticipation of a bikini or low flying fast , loud airplane as I see it :)

They also said all planes go south to north , turn out over the ocean , and then do one more run , full throttle coming right at you from the east !

I'll be at Cafe Bluefish around 4pm for sure . Ask the bartender to point out " shipyard Mike " .

PS - I do understand that the Sunrise bridge will be closed like Wends . or Thursday . Probably ALL the checkpoints and traffic patterns to be honest .

And no Blue Angels!!!!
