I'm planning my first FKK trip this spring.  I've read through threads so I have a good idea of which clubs to go...however there isn't a whole lot of information on areas to stay and hotels.

I'm planning to rent a car.  I've heard that don't stay in a hotel in the city due to parking problems.

Can you give any suggestions?  Calling IceBear....

Cheers!

Socrates....I actually just came back after spending four days in Frankfurt in late October.  It was a tossup for me whether to rent a car or use public transportation.  In the end, I stayed at the 5 Star Steigenberger Metropolitan which is across the street from the main Franfurt Rail Station.  The reason I did this was:
1. I don't speak German
2. The Hotel was fantastic and great location. Rates were surprising reasonable. https://www.steigenberger.com/en?utm_medium=sea&utm_source=adwords&utm_campaign=usa_weltweit&utm_content=shr&scid=106171&cid=122775&tc=16112819434427109&rl_key=7cdfc71294e5fc5efd78c2ffee80ca89&pub_cr_id=121192247418&dynamic_proxy=1&primary_serv=www.steigenberger.com&rl_track_landing_pages=1
3. The FKK's are all over the place in different directions and (see #1)
4. I took the train to Oase and Sharks. 10-12 Euros round trip and a 6-7 Euro cab ride to each from their respective rail stations.  Trains run late till 1 AM back to Frankfurt.  Cab ride to Mainhatten was 15 Euros each way.
5. Frankfurt's RLD is a 10-15 walk away from hotel....but after visiting Sharks, Oase and Mainhatten....not worth the time IMHO.

This is a difficult question to answer. Firstly it depends on what you want. Personally I just use hotels occasionally to sleep a few hours and as such, I don't need a 5 star hotel. In general Booking.com can be helpful to provide the cheapest options.

Another tip might be to use the accor hotel group. Mercure is often decent and decently prices (although I don't like all of them). Ibis budget is very cheap and consistent in offering clean rooms and decent wifi (beds are so-so) and I typically have the best experiences in normal Ibis hotels. Fairly cheap, decent wifi and good beds (even if it only has 2 stars officially).

Also be carful with some of the "star ratings", this August I was in a 4 start hotel without airconditioning, they must have gotten the start 50 years ago.

If you want more specifics, say what clubs you want to go to.

PS be carefull about trade fairs (Messe), in Duesseldorf, Cologne and Frankfurt prices can quadruple during trade fairs

Thank you Icebear and Mickey!
