Ok, so I'm trying to learn the process. Patience please. I understand that random Backpage "providers"'may or may not be legit. Given that, how would an unreviewed provider gain their first review on this site? Would the onus be on them to make themselves available for review by creating an account or does the a customer (?) initiate the review process? I've been watching and trying to learn for my own safety/education and have noticed long standing Backpage providers without reviews and also seemingly awesome reviewed providers with no recent reviews (like years...one of which I'm smitten with). Any insignt for an excited newbie?
Stay away from backpage. I'd find a well reviewed lady on here who is newby friendly. This will make for a much more rewarding experience for you. It will also be much safer unless you like living on the edge.

First of all, spend some time on the FAQ for Newbies Board and participate there. It will help with the "process" of learning about this secret sexy world here!
To try to answer your questions, a lady can become a member here before she gets her first review. She can participate on the boards and put up a free ad every 7 days on her regional board as well. It's up to her client to review her (although she can ask her client to review her). When she gets her first review, she will get a TER Profile.
As far as the lady you are smitten with...if it's who I think it is...go for it and be honored if she accepts your request to meet. And start doubling up on your vitamins and you best be an animal lover too! 
If it doesn't work out with her you can cry on my shoulder, I'm a great listener, lolol! Seriously check out the newbie board and try and make a date to get over your jitters.

...is a profile had been created for me if you will (by the time I found out I had a TER profile 3 were already written on me). An admirer from 'The Page' (I got my start on CL and 'The Page') congratulated me on "another review" but I was clueless to what he was talking about and so sent me the link to the review profile on me. I later on claimed it. BUT I've seen ladies start their own account and then get reviewed so then the review(s) get linked to their handle.
Some ladies just don't get tons of reviews...I had a 2 yr gap. I was still active but mostly saw who just didn't review and then recently I got 3 almost back to back.
Since you're a newbie you might to want to start off with a lady that's already established.

Thank you. It makes sense that there would be a gap as certainly providers stick with more known regulars as time goes on. May I impose with another question? if considering outcall should I expect drivers/friends/etc to be coming along and sitting in the driveway or is it customary for a provider to drive alone? I live in an upscale neighborhood and would like to avoid shenanigans. Also, would it be best to meet away from home to make sure all feels right before coming back home? Might be good for both parties I figure, but of course I'm likely overthinking. Ok, that's more than one question 😬
