New trend: Fake links on posts? Any clue what's up with this?

I hope everyone is having a great day.

I know that most people on this board don't look at sites like BP, but for those of you who do and for providers, there's a new trend there recently where many posts include a link to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or another similar social media and most of the links are invalid.  I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on this? At first it seemed like a scam, but I've seen it done by some providers who I could vouch for. Does anyone know what this is about?

but I can tell you that links to sites such as Face Book or Instagram that require a log in are prohibited by TER.

Aside from that, I don't have a clue

I think there was a post on the GD Board from someone complaining that they couldn't post on BP unless they gave a link to FB or similar SM site.

Since any sane person would never do such a thing, the are probably creating fake SM site entries and using those to get by BP's demand.

Why BP is now doing this is the real question.   I think they might feel that this is giving them some leverage against the crusaders who want to take them down.   Maybe BP feels this is some kind of tool to prevent trafficked providers from using BP.   Just a guess.

It is now required by BP for providers to post at least one link to social media. This was explained to me by a provider that I frequently use on there. I do not know if BP thinks this will legitimize them more, or if this is some type of image re-branding on their part.... No clue...

If your are actually just a w seeking m or m seeking w for a date you should have no problem posting your SM account as validation your on there just to date and nothing else 🙄.  But if there are ways around putting your actual SM, then wtf is the point that of them requiring it?

That's just my two cents.

When you log into a website and have the option of logging in using your Facebook, google, instagram or other login, into a totally different site, that is called federation.

It is possible that bp is allowing people to login in or post using an alternate id., whether they realize that cross identification is being exposed or not.

I've seen several bp ads that have links to the posters' personal social profiles, essentially outing themselves to the world.
