No show...angry_smile

I understand that things come up from time to time, but is there any reason not to expect an explanation from a provider that was a no show after confirming date/time especially after driving 2 hours?

No show increases this time of the year. Must be the holidays, who knows?

Yes things do come up from time to time but as a provider providing a service there is no excuse for not reaching out and explaining oneself. In vanilla jobs not showing up or calling to explain why you're not able to make it would generally get one fired correct? And if you can't make it to say a doctor's appointment you generally called let them know so they could give that space to somebody else who might really need it. I think providers should show hobbyist the same courtesy considering many of you have to exercise extreme discretion and maybe on a super tight schedule. In this business reputation is absolutely everything, and it's not that hard to make a simple phone call, shoot an email, or text I'm just saying. I'm sure some will disagree with me. That's just my humble opinion.

...then why are you posting this? The answer to your question is obviously that you should receive a heads up out of courtesy but considering the type of business this is, rules of the real world don't always apply.

If you're not gonna help the community avoid this provider by telling us, then no one including yourself is helped IN ANY WAY with your post! Without that, you're just bellyaching.

Sir C

My 2 cents on this discussion.

I have had situations in the past, some 3 years ago, wherein there was a no-show from a provider at the decided time. I did not do anything about the no-show. Did not post it on any forum. Did not discuss it with anyone. Just went back home. Some weeks later, the lady got in touch with me, and mentioned that she had an emergency which came up in her family on the day. The situation was a real bad emergency on that day of appointment, so she could unfortunately not have the ability to inform me. Totally totally understand.

The wonderful ladies that we call providers,  are as human as any of us are. Just like life happens to us, life happens to them. Kids might fall sick, there might be some situation at their full-time work, some emergency at home, etc. etc. We never know what the unfortunate situation might have been at their end. There might be compelling reasons behind a no-show, that we never may be aware of.

It can only good karma to be considerate and empathetic to these situations, instead of putting these out on the board, or PMing the lady's board-name to other hobbyists.

This is just my personal opinion. My apologies if anyone got offended.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I don’t think your statements would offend anybody.  Interesting statements

A day or two later is one thing, there is simply no excuse for letting weeks go by before reaching out with an explanation/excuse.

I believe in OUT THE BITCH. If I ever have to pull a NCNS due to having no way of communicating the other party common respect for the time/feelings of other people would demand that the very first thing I would do upon regaining my ability to communicate is to reach out to anyone I had stood up during the time I was out of communication. To do otherwise is simply unimaginable to me.

BTW, I feel the exact same way when it's the guy standing up the woman. This is not an "us against them" kind of thing, this is a respectful vs disrespectful discussion that is certainly not gender specific.

I think your statements are correct... unfortunately many people, customers and providers both, will take advantage of someone so forgiving.  I think it is dangerous to assume that everyone is lying and equally dangerous to assume everyone is honest.

If I did that to a provider I would offer to pay for the time I scheduled... I would expect some kind of compensation on the providers part if she no showed or canceled last minute.  Without that compensation then she is playing on your good will
