Ladies, please think long term and your health. Calcium supplements and keep the bones strong now. If you have daughters, give them the gift of strong bones, calcium

Hip fracture often deadly, study shows
Older individuals with hip fracture are more than 3.5 times more likely to die within 12 months compared to non-injured; mortality higher in men than in women

Summary:

There is excess mortality risk from hip fracture while accounting for pre-injury comorbid conditions, shows a large population-based matched cohort study. The study found that hip fracture sufferers experienced significantly worse survival at 12-months post-fracture. Individuals with hip fracture were more than 3.5 times more likely to die within 12 months compared to their non-injured counterpart.

Semen is only one percent sperm; the rest is composed of over 200 separate proteins, as well as vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, calcium, chlorine, citric acid, fructose, lactic acid, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, vitamin B12, and zinc.

So make sure you ladies get your maximum Recommended Daily Allowance! ;)

Swallowing is healthy.

showed I was borderline deficient in vitamin D.  And that would make sense because I avoid milk products that disrupts my tummy and my digestion.  My doctor also told me this was the only vitamin that a person should not take without bloodwork panels because it's absorbed and not flushed out like other vitamins.  It's about time for another panel and I should see if drinking OJ with calcium and vitamin D has helped me at all.  It could also be substituted by Citra-Cal.  The vitamin C helps with the absorption of the calcium.

Actually vitamins A, D, E and K are all fat-soluble and thus have the potential to accumulate in the bodily tissues over time -- but you'd have to be taking in rather large doses for most normal healthy folks for this to be an issue.

Mos def talk with your doctor about supplementation levels and keep on with the healthy approach.

I am well nourished, and I borrowed that to describe myself on my website :)  I am healthier than I have ever felt in my life.  My resting BP runs 108/80,my skin cleared when I gave up dairy and glutens, I lost the desire for alcohol in the process of giving myself real food and vitamins and minerals it was craving.  Well nourished fits me.  I never diet, it was a lifestyle change of cutting out processed crap.

Awesome! That's the way to make lasting changes and have them become a part of who you are; I did something similar in 1990 and my life has been SO much better since!

Buena suerte

strong bones, should we want our sons to have strong boners?  What do we tell them to take for THAT?

We want our young sons to be cured of continuous boners. Even the label on Viagara says if you have a boner for more than 4-5 hours to see a doctor.

Give your sons a few hundred bucks and have them go see a provider, or send them to Bangkok, Amsterdam, and/or Mexico for a few weeks for therapy.

Besides the nutrition angle.............don't dismiss #1 Resistance training/weight bearing exercise = bone density

Osteoporosis is a major public health problem that is characterized by low bone mass and increased susceptibility to fractures, primarily of the hip, spine, and wrist. It is estimated to cause 1.5 million fractures annually in the United States in people aged 50 yr and older. Physical activity, particularly weight-bearing exercise, is thought to provide the mechanical stimuli or "loading" important for the maintenance and improvement of bone health, whereas physical inactivity has been implicated in bone loss and its associated health costs. Both aerobic and resistance training exercise can provide weight-bearing stimulus to bone, yet research indicates that resistance training may have a more profound site specific effect than aerobic exercise. Over the past 10 years, nearly two dozen cross-sectional and longitudinal studies have shown a direct and positive relationship between the effects of resistance training and bone density. Conversely, a handful of other studies have reported little or no effect on bone density. However, these results may be partially attributable to the study design, intensity and duration of the exercise protocol, and the bone density measurement techniques used. High-intensity resistance training, in contrast to traditional pharmacological and nutritional approaches for improving bone health in older adults, has the added benefit of influencing multiple risk factors for osteoporosis including improved strength and balance and increased muscle mass.
