Tom Brookshier passed away this weekend from to cancer. He was a defensive back for the Eagles in the early 60's, but is best remembered as a broadcast partner of Pat Summerall. They were the best duo of their time. My favorite line from him came as he was describing a defensive lineman: "Something that big and fast ought to have a license plate."

tails above some of the yoyos they've had broadcasting recently, like Tony Kornheiser, who turned my stomach!

I always thought he and Pat were the best! Too bad he ruined his broadcasting career by making a joke about the University of Louisville's basketball team while on the air. He was finished after that...at least for being in the big spotlight.

He was also personally a very decent and honest man

One of the classic NFL broadcasting duos.  They also used to do "This Week in the NFL", way back in the day when Johnny U., Joe Willie, Roman Gabriel, Fran Tarkenton, Dick Butkus, Mike Curtis, Mean Joe, The Steel Curtain, Doomsday, The Purple People Eaters, The No Name Defense, OJ, Franco, Billy Kilmer, Joe Kapp, John Brody, Merlin Olsen, Freddie Belitnikoff, George Allen, Tom Landry, Don Shula, John Madden, Hank Stram, Jan Stenerud, George Blanda, Tom Dempsey, Terry Metcaff, and a host more...defined the game as we were growing up!

One great thing about football...it has never really changed!  I may love baseball, because I could play it successfully way back then...but football has always been the sport I wished I wasn't too small to play!
