Hi all,
I noticed that some people's posts go up really fast, while mine can take several minutes. Do I have to have full VIP status to post instantly? Or is this just something that comes with time? If so, about how long?

posting history, you will be unmoderated. In the past, I would say to PM the mod of the board to get unmoderated but there are no mods anymore. I don't think Swim, the host here, has the ability to unmoderate anyone.
My advice would be to wait a few weeks and contact admin. to see if you can become unmoderated. Yes, it is a pain to have to wait to see the post go up; especially if it is your weekly ad.
Or a lively discussion.

it shouldn't be long now..you have started several threads and join the discussions on a regular basis..we all know you by now..i am sure they do too..
In the past the moderator of the board you post the most on would unmoderate you, sometimes on their own, and sometimes after you ask. As long as you have a good posting history and are not a trouble maker, you will get unmoderated. However if you break one of their rules, you will get moderated again. Since there are no moderators now, contact admin. However I disagree with KK in the "wait a couple weeks" part. Contact them today, and ask to be unmoderated. The worse they will do is say "no."
Then you can try again in a few weeks. However you have already been posting for a while (seems like a couple months) on this board, and the GD and Florida boards, and maybe others, so you may have enough of a posting history to get unmoderated already. Good luck

Post often on your regional board. You can post one ad every 7 days on the ad board. The more you post on the regional board, the better the guys will know you.

Thanks, Swim! Will do! Funny- since someone over there convinced me to venture out into other boards, I've nearly forgotten about posting there. I do try to post my ad every 7 days, tho. Have an alert on my calendar for it. 
Other than the delay how do you know your status? I see posts with the time and date in red and others not - what does the red mean?
How you know you are moderated is by the delay in your posts getting posted. If you are moderated they don't go up right away. If you are unmoderated they get posted instantly. There is also a message when you post. After you type your message and as soon as you hit post it will say something like "Your post has been submitted and is now active" or "your post has been submitted and will be active soon" (Not the exact words but something similar, you get the jist)
Now as for the red text on the dates, that has been asked many times, and for a long time it was a mystery though there have been many theories. However it was answered a few months ago. Here is a link to the post that answered that question once and for all:
