The Who Dat Nation (and this board) has been too quiet on the upcoming Saints Miracle in Miami.

So it's time to stir up a little fun chatter

Freeney has a torn ligament in his ankle. This should make Drew Brees' day a little earlier.

The Saints are a Great story. They have had over 40 years of virtual futility. Throw in the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina and everyone (outside of Indianapolis) will be pulling for the Saints.

But, because they have been bad for so long, outside of New Orleans, they really have no fan base. They have not cultivated generations of fans (Steelers or Cowboys or Packers or Bears). They have not have had recent success (New England). They are not from a large city (Giants or Jets) where there are millions and millions of fans. Moreover, all these above teams have really strong national followings...people live all over the country and yet still follow these teams religiously. New Orleans has always loved the Saints; but the rest of the country is indifferent. Indifference does not lead to chatter on sports boards.

Same with the Colts. Really the generations who grew up rooting for the Baltimore Colts have long ago switched allegiances to the Ravens. Again, Indianapolis is a small city, with passionate fans; but not fans spread out across the country. Yes, they have the games best player in Peyton Manning and have more national following than the Saints (primarily because they have had some recent success), but in the end they are a regional team.

As a football fan, I'm always excited for the Super Bowl. But, because of whose playing in this game, I wouldn’t expect a lot of talk amongst fans.

I guess I am one of those lucky ones that live in New Orleans although it was in the lean years.  Stil have my favorite paper bag somewhere

You are right, most folks like the Saints, great story of rebuilding and rebirth for the city but they don't have the rabid national following  that the Cowboys have.  To prove that point just say something bad about the boys and see how long it takes for the hottest blond in Vegas to jump off her piano and smack you.

Personally, I think there's a lot more national interest than one would imagine. The matchup may not be as sexy as Cowboys-Patriots or Giants-Jets, but the rags-ro-riches story of the Saints is intriguing to a lot of people, especially fans of the also-ran teams. Plus, the Archie-Peyton-New Orleans connection will be more pronounced as the game nears. Of course, I'm the glass-half-full-with-a-crack-that-causes-the-Diet Coke-to-dribble-down-my-chin-when-I-drink-it type of guy. Yea tax season! Woo Hoo!!

maybe it's time for a change. Who Dat! is good for me. Besides the food is better. Can't beat that. I hope Gregg Williams brings the heat on Peyton "Screw you LSU" Manning, for the QB must go down, and go down hard.

it, just as you are!  Rex made a mistake giving that fan the finger, and I'm sure he regrets it.  Only a complete doofus like you would think it was admirable.

NOT NOT NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would give a rats-ass about actions of a coach comparable to that of Woody Hayes?

And yes you are excused.

Go Jets....:-D
