I spent alot of time in NY, and only go to strip clubs on occasion, for a beer or two and to look at the sites. IF you spend an extended amount of time in one, you will likely spend a lot of $$ with little relief.
On the other hand, the provider scene is vast and varied. Hundreds of reviews here will aid in your search. My personal recomendations are as follows:
Incall agency/house: Julies, located in midtown, around 8th avenue area, a few blocks from times sq. http://www.julienyc.com
Been there many times, great selection, Julie is a wonderful lady who prides herself on customer satisfaction and value. Very reasonable for NY, almost everyone leaves very happy. You get the full hour.
Incall independents: I recomend (through experience) Bridgette (now indy, used to work at Julies), and Alini (small brazillian).
Outcall: never done that in NYC, sorry, but there is a plethora of talent that has been well reviewed.
