Could be a bunch of things but I wouldn't jump to any conclusions ..... sounds like a bacterial infection .... not a viral infection.... a little knowledge is a bad thing....

If you are comfortable with your Doctor....tell him the truth....if not....see a new dermatologist and they will (should) be able to determine a course of action.

well, after messing around this past month (with some providers and non-providers) i've noticed some whiteheads, one on the top of my lip then one on the bottom, these past few days.  i popped them both, but they keep growing back to become white.  i can only assume something bad (unless someone can shine some optomism on this).....

i don't really feel or see anything genetally.  so the thing is, if I do have it (which i will get tested this week) and i'm sure there are some people on here who have it, so what am I in for.  any pain?  any sexual problems?  i know there's no cure, but how effective are the suppression treatments?  thanks for any info anyone can give me

I doubt you have active herpes simplex type a.  Firstly, most people have dormant type herpes simplex type a.  It lives in the root of the nerve, called the ganglion, and stays there quietly until something triggers it like stress, sunlight (most common cause) or a deficient immune system - ie when you have a rhinovirus - hence it's more common name (in Oz at least) of cold sores.  It's only a problem if you're a Rhesus monkey.  For them it's fatal.  So be thankful for small mercies.

Herpes tingles and itches and presents as a clear blister filled with fluid. It sounds like you've got milia or common whiteheads, the most likely cause of which is over application of lip gloss or sunscreen.

If it is herpes simplex type a a topical application of acyclovir at the first 'tingle' will deal with it.  You can buy this from any drugstore or supermarket.    Most importantly, relax.

However, if you are popping these things - something you should never do - and they keep reoccurring then for god's sake see a doctor.  They could be an early skin cancer and need a biopsy, not you fiddling with them!

A God send to those who suffer with cold sores.

Like you said, start taking them at the first sign of the tingling and the cold sore never comes out.

Don't be afraid to take slightly more than the prescribed dosage if necessary.

could it be a pimple?  I mean the white stuff is the pus underneath, which can be caused by any injury to the area.  Is it large or small?

Just kiddin', but for crying out loud, go get tested.

Whiteheads mean that your testicles are infected and they must be removed. Happened to a buddy of mine, he took them to a taxidermist and had them stuff and mounted and he's got them hanging on the wall in his TV room.

Just kidding! Seriously though, it probably means that your penis will turn blue and eventually fall off.  Kind of like being a lepper. Unfortunately the taxidermist can't preserve this for you.

OK, now I'll be serious........I freaked out on a number of occasions when I got any kind of sore near my mouth. Being an active hobbiest I always figured it was some kind of STD. My point is......don't sweat it, hobbyists get regular cole sores and whiteheads too. Check a test and put your mind at ease.
