VIP membership is something between the site admin and the member.
There could also be hobbyists and providers that don't want to use the PM system here for various reasons.

If someone doesn't answer your PM, there are only two reasons. Either they can't or they won't. The reason then becomes irrelevant.

Why couldn't TER add an indicator to the PM screen to show whether the person you're sending the message to have VIP membership or not? Right now it sucks because you do not know if the recipient can or can't read messages.

VIP status changes all the time. There are folks who lose their VIP for a few days or weeks or months then get it back by paying or posting reveiws etc., so someone could have been VIP yesterday, but their membership lapsed today, then they have VIP again tomorrow. It seems like TER could have a system that says whether someone is VIP or not, or a notification "This person is unable to read your PM", however it would constantly be changing, and I dont know the software involved. Also you could send the PM to a non VIP member and get the message they cant read it, then they become VIP tomorrow or next week, and now they can read your message, since messages sty in the inbox forever until they can read it.  I am not sure how that would work as far as the constant changes in VIP status.

On the other hand there is another solution to your issue. They could add tracking so you would know if your PM was read. I know this is possible because it exists on several other sites I belong to. This way you at least know if your PM was read or not. If it wasnt read, it might be that they dont have VIP, or it might be that they just havent logged on, or it might be they ignored you, but at least you know if it was read or not.

e ability to track your PM (i.e. determine whether its been read) is a good idea. It's human nature to start thinking about whether the person has read or has not read your PM if you do not receive a timely response.. If you know it hasn't been read, then you know that they can't open it, or haven't logged on to receive mail. If its a provider, then perhaps you can go the E-mail route instead. On the other hand,  if I know the PM has been read, then there is nothing else I can do; it's up to the recipient if they want to respond.
