a new vicious virus that prevents internet access.  Luckily, I know a REAL computer EXPERT in sunny California that FINALLY got me back up after Staples and Roadrunner utterly failed in their attempts to get me going again.  I hope none of you get this thing, as the people from Roadrunner told me that they've suddenly been getting A LOT of calls about this.

Chengster, congratulations!  I hope you're still standing to see the Super Bowl after all the drinking I know you're going to do between now and then!

The Jets?  What can I say - they got beat by a better team.  But as I used to say as an old BROOKLYN Dodger fan (the REAL Dodgers) - WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR!

We all know damn well you and L_Eeyore had a back alley tussle and you ended up on your ass.

Wondered where ya' were.

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and that really worried me.

Still standing after the best weekend ever,  Think I need a new liver but hey, only go around once and what's the point of going to the grave with parts that aren't completely worn out.

Gonna watch the SuperBowl from home, should be a good time and haven't given up on the Saints, I think they just might surprise a few folk

I hope you give CYNIC way more credit than that.

Still standin? Then may I suggest you 'hit it again' bro.

But the BROOKLYN Dodgers were an institution, and without question the most colorful team baseball has ever known.  Winning or losing, they were always fun to watch, from the SYM-PHONEY to the famous "three men sliding into third base" play, there was always something going on in Ebbets Field.  I went there quite a few times as a kid, and NOTHING today even comes close!

Amen, CY-
getting out of school in '55 and finding out that Podres had shut out the Evil Empire 2-0 in their house in game 7-After years of frustration (52-my first year as a Dodger fan- and 53) is probably my all time happy sports moment-1rob...still a Dodger fan but it ain't the same....OUT

I can still name the starting lineups of both the 52 and 53 Dodger teams (the difference between them, of course, is in 53 they had Gilliam on second, moved Jackie to third, and had Pafko in left). But for the life of me, I still can't figure out how that team lost to those fucking Yankees!

Hi, CY,
OK-the 52 team to my best recollection was Campy behind the plate, Gil Hodges at 1st, Jackie Robinson at 2nd, Pee Wee at short, Billy Cox at 3rd, the Duke in center, the Italian Rifle, Carl Furillo in right-with the pitchers including Carl Erskine, Clem Labine, Joe Black, and Don Newcomb-I believe George 'Shotgun' Shuba was also on the team-I cannot remember the left fielder and call on your expertise to enlighten me-
Always enjoy your informative and interesting posts-Later-1rob

Newcombe wasn't on either the 52 or 53 teams - he was in the Army then.  Had he been pitching for the Dodgers in those years, they would've won the WS INMHO!
