So more people are being evacuated from Moore and N. Cumberland Counties. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the flood victims. Parts of Johnson County is flooded out. For a reference point Johnson County borders Wake County (where Raleigh is located). People an hour maybe a little more, from Raleigh are in peril and have lost everything. Some of the rivers still aren't at their highest point.  There will even more massive flooding! Lumberton NC  is completely flooded out!:(

We have people in these areas completely stranded. We still have over 400,000 without power in NC. I hope some of the people I've been fortunate enough to meet, PM and email with from these areas know I care as I'm sure others here do too. Stay safe everyone! I've included an important link and I hope it stays up.

Love,

Steph

coming from Columbia, SC.  Is 95 clear?  What route should I take?

Prayers for all affected by this storm.   What damage we had here is minor compared to the eastern areas of the Carolinas.

It's the part of I95 heading to the eastern part of NC that's shut down/impassable. It looks like you have to go very close to Fayetteville on I95, so I'm not sure. You may have to go towards Charlotte and come in that way. If you have any doubts, check with the DOT.

Welcome to Raleigh when you get here!~

There is a section of I-95 closed down in both ways around Dunn NC ( mile marker 75 or so). They have a detour setup on county roads thru Fayetteville, then into Lillington and back out to I-95. Plan on it taking a lot of extra time as lot of traffic moved to n some cases 2 lane roads. So traffics lights still out as well. If you do come that way as you get into Lillington hot GPS for Raleigh as there is a state route that will cut off corner of going back out to 95 to my come back west on 40

Safe travels

I-77 N to Charlotte, go around on 485 to I-85 N, THEN cut off onto 64 through Asheboro---I like 64 instead of I-85 with less traffic, good road, straight shot to Raleigh:)) Is it 811 to get N.C.D.O.T. hwy info, I think, NOT 911:)) Drive only in DAYTIME!

I agree. Just closed 95 in Lumberton nc as well. Long time before we recover. Also yes to the travel at daylight only. Trees are still right at the edge of some roads, water is moving and roads open today closed tomorrow and finally wash out and pavement giving way in some places. Do not want to drive into a sinkhole. Safe travels

I appreciate your advice very much - I think Hwy 1 might be my best bet.  I know the Eastern part of NC is having it's share of problems, and I don't need to be in the way at all.  Looks like finding a room will be tough too, with so many people being displaced from their homes.  Bless their hearts, indeed.

Thanks again everyone!

I would even avoid 1 in the southern part of NC - some localize flooding just east of Pinehurst. The flooding is just massive
