Thanks! Yes, the map of the area definitely looks a little different than what I remember.

"The more things change..." I suppose!

Touring provider here, visiting the Triangle for the first time in quite a while in a few years. But I do remember that about a decade ago the traffic on I-40 was truly horrendous.

On a weekday afternoon, shortly after a lunch appointment, I am trying to get from Durham over to my hotel in the Crabtree Valley area. Google Maps tells me that this drive will take me a little over 30 minutes.

Is this accurate? How often do things go completely sideways, traffic-wise?

Stay off I-40 from 4-6:30 p.m.  Glen wood Ave (70) ain't fun either 4-6:30 p.m.

Traffic in The Triangle is busier and just as crowded as it was 15 years ago. The main arteries such as I-440 have been widened. 540 has opened the flow some, as well as The Triangle Toll Road.  These enhancements have managed to keep traffic status quo to accommodate the huge population Growth.  Bottom Line, avoid 40 West during AM Rush Hour, avoid 40 East during PM Rush Hour.
