How many guys are in the hobby?

I've been wondering if anyone knows if there is any good data out there regarding what percentage of guys have used a provider (not just once in their life, but maybe at least once year). I know there are a lot of providers out there- and they are often busy when I call them.  I'm sure they have a lot more clients than their reviews indicate.  I've often thought about asking them how many guys they see a week- but never do, figuring it's nervey.  Also, I might not like the answer ;-) Anyway, I'm guessing a lot of guys are doing this.  I have never told anyone I know about my participation- and I would guess that people who know me would never even imagine I have seen a provider.  It makes me wonder how many of my fiends and co-workers also do it.  Visiting the TER community- it seems so natural, but are a lot of other guys doing this?  Anyone ever see any statistics on this?

Seeing that the hobby has been around forever I would only guess that a lot more people are involved in it than  "polite" society would have you believe. Given the reluctancy of hobbyists to even give an un-blocked phone number to a provider makes me doubt we will be seeing any accurate polls comming out in the near future.

Many ladies are hurting for business right now from what I hear.

Considering there are millions of guys in Southern California, I doubt a big percentage actually indulge.

On the one hand, I'd guess it's a very high percentage. Say, if you phrased the question like this --

"What percentage of men have, at some point in their lives, regularly used the services of a provider -- including a yank job at a massage parlor, or any other act even more intimate -- to a frequency of about three times in no more than a year?"

-- then I'd guess it's near 75% of the human male population.

But on the other hand, there sure are a lot of miserable, undersexed guys out there, controlled by their libidos and their fears to the point of exasperation and lack of self-actualization. So, if you phrased the question like this --

"How many typical North American middle-class men use providers often enough to be classified as 'a John'?"

-- then I'd guess it's as low as 10%.

And then there are the experimenters -- kind of like my "use" of psychedelic drugs. I did strange acid stuff three times in my college / grad-school years. Does that make me a "druggie"? So, if you phrased the question like this --

"How many men at some point in the PAST saw a provider once or twice, but aren't necessarily regular hobbyists any more?"

-- then I'd guess it's 99.9999999%.

Whaddayathink? Other ways to ask?

I'll take an estimated guess and say 15% of the Male Population (in the US) is involved in the hobby.

jacking off, miserable, going to lame strip clubs getting no action, bored at home, going nuts, and clueless as to this other world that exists here on the web with such details!!!!!

Many clients have told me how finding this world has been one of their biggest enlightenments!!!  Same for me -- terrific fun and meeting some AMAZING, very bright, sensual, exciting clients!!

I take in their comments on each thread, distill it into as short a comment as I can manage, and share it on this discussion board.  Because if every hobbiest commented on the Discussion Board the entire net would crash.  Jockeypants isn't one man.  It is 5,536 active, concerned swingers with a mission but also concerned enough with our planet to keep the net from crashing.

I'm sorry Buckw.  I'm lying.  Actually I'm the only hobbiest in southern california and I've taken on all the personalites you see before you on this screen.  I am a very wealthy man and see 18 providers a day.  The reviews alone are staggering.

Again, I'm sorry Buckw.  I don't know the answer to your question and I've entirely too much time on my hands.

The guy who did these worked for a demographics outfit and did this kind of thing for a living.  He posted updates annually for about 4 years.

Thanks for posting that-very interesting post.  I wonder how they got that data.  It looks credible.  So about 15% of the general male population are Hobbyists?  That means that if I pick 7 random male co-workers, probably one of them is a member of the club.  I have a very hard time imagining any of them doing it- but then I'm sure they'd say the same about me.  I wish we had some kind of secret signal- I'd get a real kick passing it to my "colleaugues" during some boring meeting.
