STD, LE, social stigma, feeling of debasement ... and I think for every good memory, there may be two bad ones ...

This has come up in a few conversations recently: Why is it hard for women to retire in this business? Why is it difficult to leave?

Here are my answers:

I guess because there is nothing else quite like it. There's the incredible adrenaline rush, the excitement, the 'turn on' (different than 'excitement'), the whole erotica and what it does to your sensuality, self esteem and sexuality. There's the secrecy, the passion and confidentiality. There's the intimacy and the rewards of compassion and in giving of yourself (particularly to the 'unlovely' and the lonely), there's the freedom of expression, the creativity, and in knowing you are desired. There is the wholesomeness that comes with servitude; and the rapture that comes with being a part of someone's time capsule memory; and in doing good. There is the nurturing that goes with listening and caring and the peace that goes with providing a safe haven...and all that in only an hour, or two.

Yes, because there is nothing else like it.

A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out the local brothels. When he got to the first one, he asked the Madam, "Is this a union house?"

"No," she replied, "I'm sorry it isn't."

"Well, if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"

"The house gets $80 and the girls get $20," she answered.

Mightily offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down the street in search of a more equitable, hopefully unionized shop. His search continued until finally he reached a brothel where the Madam responded,  "Why yes sir, this is a union house. We observe all union rules."

The man asked, "And if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?"

"The girls get $80 and the house gets $20."

"That's more like it!" the union man said. He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room and pointed to an attractive blonde. "I'd like her," he said.

I'm sure you would, sir," said the Madam. Then she gestured to a 72 year-old woman in the corner, "but Ethel, here, has 47 years seniority, and she's next."

surveys of 'jobs' in general have shown that their happiness or unhappiness was RARELY related to the compen$ation.

The same (somewhat) applies here. One who thinks of cash first (whether ladies or gentlemen) are either new, or young.

Sir Prize has the idea..

Seriously, very few of you ladies could make as much money in another line of work, especially with as much freedom.

Not a slur, just a fact.

So Sedona, let me understand. Do you think that you would ever retire ? or is the rush, the reward too great?

Well, what I hear from several ladies in the biz is that the money is very good, they are their own boss and don't have to be stuck in some office from 8 to 5, 5 days a week for a fraction of what they make as an escort.

I thought I would only be in this business for one year, but it's hard to break away when you get so much free time to do other things (possibly other types of work) and you don't have to take any more crap from the corporate world and some uptight bosses. Sometimes I feel a little guilty when I see other friends working so hard and making so little money. But then I remember all the hard work I put in already and the demanding hours of working full time and still going to college to earn a degree. I've been working since 13, doing different odd jobs, so I feel it's time I earned a little R&R. But believe me, when I do see friends, I put in my 100 percent.

Hugs,
Ciara

Yes, Sedona

We see the good side of every client.  All of the exciting things he has to offer.  We never do his dishes or wash his clothes or see him upset or unshaven.

The client worships us and somehow ... over time ... we begin to think we are the Goddess they think we are.

In addition, I find the gentlemen whom I see to be some of the most interesting and well rounded people.  I simply wouldn't get that level of intellictual stimulation, exposure to culture and diversity of a sensual nature through any other means.

I'm not sure that's completely true, Angel.

As I step out of the business I am seeing many of the same kind of men in other situations and maybe even seeing more of their wonder than before.   The difference now is that I have to WORK for it and not just spread my lips to get their attention.

as being 'my own'. I just write what I see in it all, or what I experience or feel.

If I added my own to the list, I would definitely add the friendships, the incredible insights into humanity, and I couldn't forget the Sisterhood.

I would bid adieu for my Truly Beloved, but not without sweet sorrow.

Sedona, your creativity is 2nd to none.  Not only am I looking forward to meeting you for the sensuality of the experience, but, also for the experience of just getting to know you.  Be safe.

I know I would have a lot of trouble walking away from a job that gave me an orgasm every time I was "on the clock"
