I keep my alias to myself. I want anonymity, it doesn't make sense to tell them.

As far as seing a provider based on how she posts... I think that's absurd.  Same goes for a provider for not seeing a client due to his posts. I don't base my decision to see a provider based on what her opinions are or how she expresses them... I see a provider becuase of the type of body she has and how she is going to let me use it for my sexual gratification.

Just my opinion, but I don't mix personalities with sex!

Just curious as to whether hobbyests reveal their aliases to providers.  We know their aliases of course, and sometimes I am interested in seeing a provider based on how she posts here on the boards.  What are your thoughts on the matter?  Any reason not to do so?

I always reveal my alias in my first contact with a provider.

I see a number of ladies who post on this board, so in those cases it just sort of falls into place - rickbethel tells a lady he wants to see her and then I start corresponding under my real name.

In the case of ladies who don't post, I give my alias as well, on the theory that they will read my posts and reviews, and get a heads up on my preferences.

Apparently, there are several conspiracy theories as to why you shouldn't reveal your alias to a provider. I've heard a few, but don't really buy them.

I do, simply because you can usually establish some sort of comfort level by revealing yourself as a player on TER.

I've chosen many of the providers I've seen from their posts here and from the chat;  they know my handle then anyways.  I like having a little sense of familiarity with the girls I choose to see, that way we can connect better.  IMHO it leads to a better time, not just for me but for her as well.

Provides a level of comfort.  Met a person recently, was interested in info / screening, and I provided my alias.  She took a look at posts / reviews on TER, and said "you sound like a nice guy", and things went well after that.

The down side:  I can say I'm xenopus, rickbethel, megapig (ok, I won't ever use megapig), and ... how would the provider know that I'm being truthful?

If she's a VIP member, you can confirm easily by sending her a PM with a prearranged message.  If she is not, use your handle to post a "code word" message on an agreed-upon discussion board.  You can tell the name is genuine if the "[Go to enjoyinglife2's 19 reviews]" message comes up in the post.

Bond.  OC_Bond.  LoL

I do if it comes up in conversation.

I take it we're talking about ter usernames here, not 'alias' in the restricted sense.

Depends on a lot of things, not least of which is whether I happen to think of it that day.  I certainly can't see any "real world" privacy risk.  As others have said, if I'm considering a date with her, she's going to have my real name.

As for an actual alias, no I wouldn't give that out.  I'd only use one in the first place if I had some reason not to be recognized as the TER 'me'.

Promise me if you ever come to Sydney, don't look me up .....

To me sex is a first and foremost a cerebral activity.  If it's just about what vagina you're in and what breasts you're fondling then you might as well stay home and jerk off over porno mags :)  Sure, even without engaging the mind, you'll still cum but you'll never have the kind of totally focussed, intense experience that a true mind f*_k will give you.

So there!

I've revealed it to the ones I've talked too on here.
I don't see any reason not too...

I'm figuring that if I write a review, she's going to figure out who I am anyway.  I guess this can be avoided by writing a review that has no resemblence to the encounter.

I usually give ladies my TER ID, especially if they require verification or references before seeing me.  I feel it can be useful for the ladies because it can help show them that I'm legitimate.  It doesn't matter if they're a TER participant or member.  I'll also provide my Yahoo! ID and give them info on some of the hobby-based Yahoo! groups I'm a member of.

So far, I've never had a lady refuse to see me that I sent any of the forementioned information to.  As a sidenote, I haven't asked any of them whether they actually used any of that information as part of their screening process.  I don't know whether any of them did implement it and if they did, whether it was beneficial to them.

For me, the more hobby-related information I can give a lady (within reason, of course) that can potentially help set her mind at ease about having me as a future client, the better.  I'd rather provide a little too much information than not enough.  The IDs & aliases become moot anyway, because the lady will eventually learn my real name.

KCSHYGUY  (My REAL name) ;-)

I don't have a problem giving a provider I want to see my TER handle.
It just gives them another route to get to know me a little better.

I gave up the alias a while ago.

Just my opinion...

I look at our user-name or "alias" as more a protection from LE than a way to remain clandestine from each other. Informing a provider of your TER alias gives them a valuable screening tool which can shorten the process greatly. Meeting a provider via "Discussion Board" postings is a very favorable side effect of this forum and can lead to some very enjoyable and long lasting business relationships.

Legal name as it appears on your driver's lic. and TER handle. There is a reason why I so this. To make a long story short, I had someone contact me using their TER handle when I only knew their legal name. I had no interest in seeing this individual again, and it caused a lot of problems when he tried to schedule an appointment with me using his TER handle.

I've never revealed my alias, but I wouldn't be opposed to doing so if it came up or the lady asked.  I don't know that any of the ladies I've seen actually participate in discussions.  I noticed that one lady posted ads on the local board sometimes after I saw her.  I know that others were at least aware of their reviews here.  I don't see any reason not to reveal it to them.

your name drug thru the mud via "inter-provider" communication by a less than professional provider.

I derive a great amount of comfort from knowing that a person is a participating member of TER simply because I then know I do not have to try to up sell or give a lot of details about myself over the phone this person already knows who I am and what I offer and are obviously already sold.  It just makes my job that much easier. The encounter becomes much more important to me to make a good impression because it is with a member of our not so small community.  It ends up being a win win from my perspective.  Unless your a misogynist or antisocial I don't see how it could hurt the situation.

Sasha...thanks for your reply and indeed to all the others, I thank you.   I recently told a provider by email who I was on TER and only afterwards had second thoughts although I could not quite establish a valid reason for concern.  I too thought it creates a win-win situation and would offset the potential downside.  I guess to me the downside would only be that the provider would know you might post a review and thus creates an odd situation (a bit like going to a restaurant and making it known you are a food reviewer-sorry for the analogy!).  If the provider now knows your alias, sees the bad review and also knows who you are, it might then turn into problems...anyhow, the provider I revealed my identity to has great reviews and also appears 'smart' so I was willing to let her know more info.  Again, thanks to all for your responses.

Why... I would never reveal my alias for obvious reasons.

I did that once with pussy galore and boy oh boy did I have my hands full...and a scrumptious mouthful besides.

God saves the Queen...once again.
